Session 14 (17. 10. 2018)

The guards immediately engaged the party, and a long, bloody battle ensued as more and more of them joined the fray. Although Fernando, Kim and Lia all went down at some point, in the end, victory was achieved without any casualties.
Having looted the bodies, the group entered a door and found themselves inside the huge chamber that Lia had seen in her dream. The giant lightning drake was there, chained inside a containment cell of enforced glass that was slowly filling up with some sort of gas. On the other side of the room, a finely dressed gnome was about to leave in a hurry. Carthigan identified him as Alistair Newmont, an old rival of his. Newmont proclaimed that they could either chase him or save the creature from the poisonous gas that had just been released in its cell, then made a run for it. He dropped the papers he was carrying however.
The group investigated the containment cell’s control panel, and managed to shut off the mechanism that had been pumping the gas into it. Lia punched a hole in the glass with her lightning bolt, and the gas soon cleared out. Then she carefully entered the cell through a door and approached the creature, speaking to it soothingly in Primordial. It did not attack her, appearing afraid and miserable. It was scarred all over, showing signs of prolonged torture.
With Aella’s help, its chains were removed. A mechanism on the ceiling was still siphoning lightning off of it, but at the control panel, Gunter managed to reverse the flow. A huge bolt of lightning hit the creature, somehow revitalizing it. It turned around and fired its lightning breath, punching through the wall of its cell as well as the Spire itself. Then it launched itself through the hole, and took to the sky.
It did not leave, however. It circled around, attacking its prison. The Spire shook with its blasts, and soon began to lean to the side. The party got in the nearest elevator and headed up in a desperate attempt to reach Drayfus before the whole place came crashing down. However, the elevator suddenly began falling.
They barely managed to escape the elevator and the Spire itself. From outside, they watched in horror as the huge structure collapsed upon itself. Having spent its ire, the drake finally flew off to the north. The party left the scene to lay low, mourning Drayfus. Dagger and Fernando were hit especially hard and decided to leave the group to get a ship of their own and be sky pirates. The rest of the party opted to see if Doctor Valerian was back.
