Master Ivan

The Teacher

One day after a rather nasty series of nightmares this old grumpy man visited the house of the Stantons. He didn't seem to explain why he was there or what told him about these nightmares, just that he could help the poor child and teach him to work his gift. It would lessen the nightmares but strengthen his abilities he said. Then he left, leaving the Stantons to ponder over the offer of the man.   Master Ivan lives outside of the City of Astea in a secluded place the people just call the Old Shack. It is a rundown wooden house that looks like it'd fall apart at any moment but somehow doesn't. One of his most notable features is probably the large bony staff with a ravenskull throning it. The staff sometimes seams to have a mind of his own looking straight at you.   The grumpy old man seems to have some kind of relationship with Magda as each time they see each other they avoid any type of eye contact on purpose. She was it that initially told Ivan to take the boy in and somehow they both have a secret that makes him owe her greatly.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Master Ivans relationship with the Stantons is distant at best. The only real contact he has is with Vincent and there he holds a strict Master - Apprentice relationship between the two. He seems to know Magda - the matriarch of the family, though does not want to talk about how or why. They have history and somehow he feels obligated to pay her back greatly. Aside from that he keeps to himself in the woods inside his old shack and almost never leaves the place unless he gets summoned by Victor himself.

Religious Views

Religion for Master Ivan is like poison for food. He hates it. He doesn't mind people following a code or some kind of religion per se, but that moment when he asks questions and they don't know the answer is when he loses respect for the person. Intelligence is one of the most important gifts the sisters gave us and in his mind we should use it not throw it away by accepting blindly values that the scions put upon ourselves. It is one of the very few topics Master Ivan and Vincent disagree upon, though the smart and intelligent answers the young boy seems to find every time, calm his mind and allow for a fruitful relationship between the two.

Social Aptitude

His high intelligence and low tolerance level for stupidity makes him a impatient person both as teacher as well as a friend. His grumpy attitude has rarely to do with you or what you did but how his mood is today. Besides this he is a great teacher - far better than any of the clerics - and knows exactly how to push his apprentice to his limits.
