Umoza (oo-moh-za)

Also called the “Children of the Mountain”, umoza have lived in the furthest reaches of the Gray Expanse’s desolate mountains even before the Age of Expansion. Their broad shoulders, powerful jaws, singular eyes, and penchant for silence caused settlers to believe they were terrifying monsters before it was discovered that they were civilized, but simply reclusive. They clashed with dwarves for centuries until finally driving the invaders back and formalizing a non-aggression pact, which by necessity pulled them into the fold of the Council of Mist. Umozan culture is largely centered around rice farming in the steppes of the Prydwitch Mountains, which serves to supplement their diet of aether ore and minerals.
