Kallopari (kah-loh-pair-ee)

"Was it two gods? Or one, or three? For who could account for Kallopari, the usurper, the rightful heir?"

A Chaos Bound

There is much debate regarding the historical accuracy of Kallopari's very existence. Worshipers of Doorn Kal say that Kallopari was merely an aspect of the dark goddess, while Bathremedis adherents claim that even if Kallopari were to have existed, the god of light would not have suffered it to live. The truth, as it always does, lies somewhere in between. Kallopari came into existence at the same instant Bathremedis did; it existed within Doorn Kal, slumbering and inchoate, until it was dragged out by the need for a dividing line between the light and dark. When Bathremedis brought light to the world, he threatened to eradicate Doorn Kal entirely, so blinding was his radiance. Doorn, threatened by her brother, lashed out at him and attempted to snuff his newborn light. Equally matched, the siblings clawed at one another in the cosmic void, unable to maintain their forms from the exertion of battle. If things had continued this way, the world would have flickered out of being, neither light nor dark able to stave off the hungry maw of nothingness.   And so it was that Kallopari stepped out of Doorn Kal and stood between the siblings. With its great horns, it turned aside the Ashen Spear; with its baleful gaze, it scoured the words from Hilum Lex. The divine siblings saw Kallopari's terrible power and were filled with horror only gods can know. Using all of their power in concert with one another, Doorn Kal and Bathremedis sealed Kallopari in the center of Twinsun, binding its body beneath sacred white pine forests. This eerie, bountiful land is known today as the Divide, and though the myth of Kallopari is long forgotten, none dare trespass on it without guidance from the Order of White Pine.
