Taruvata was once a mortal worshipper of Maranam, and strove to get ever closer to the grand god of death. One day Taruvata stumbled upon the secrets of undeath, and became Lume's first - and only - archlich. With his newfound power, Taruvata sought out Maranam and begged to be allowed into his following. Maranam was horrified at what Taruvata had become and forever banished the archlich from his realm. Defeated and alone, Taruvata sought solace through his greatest creations - the undead.
Taruvata is the father of all undead, creating techniques passed on to countless generations of necromancers. Taruvata strives to figure out where he went wrong, and hopes to create the "ideal" undead so that he might win back Maranam's favor. In pursuit of this quest he has unwittingly - or perhaps uncaringly - unleashed all manner of undead beasts upon Lume.
Taruvata's worship is highly taboo, if not outright illegal in most places. His followers are those who wish to learn the secrets to avoiding death, though few ever accomplish it.
