Apple Blossom Society

Apple Blossom Society refers to a fraternal organization that traces its origins to the founding of Tappersville, from around the 1830s that regulated the qualifications for human decency. Apple Blossom Society has been the subject of numerous conspiracy theories throughout the years. Modern Apple Blossoms broadly consists of two main recognition groups:

• Regular Apple Blossoms insists that a volume of scripture be open in a working nursery, that every member professes belief in a Supreme Being, that no outsiders be admitted, and that the discussion of religion and politics be banned.
• Continental Apple Blossoms consists of the jurisdictions that have removed some, or all, of these restrictions.

The basic, local organizational unit of Apple Blossom Society is the Arboretum. These private Lodges are usually supervised at the regional level (usually coterminous with a state, province, or national border) by a Grand Arboretum or Grand Oasis. There is no international, worldwide Grand Arboretum that supervises all of Apple Blossom Society; each Grand Arboretum is independent, and they do not necessarily recognize each other as being legitimate.
The degrees of Apple Blossom Society retain the three grades of medieval craft guilds, those of Apprentice, Journeyman, and Master Caretaker. The candidate of these three degrees is progressively taught the meanings of the symbols of Apple Blossom Society and entrusted with grips, signs, and words to signify to other members that he has been so initiated. The degrees are part allegorical morality play and part lecture. Three degrees are offered by Craft Caretaker, and members of any of these degrees are known as Apple Blossoms. There are additional degrees, which vary with locality and jurisdiction, and are usually administered by their own bodies,

Structure

The basic unit of Apple Blossom Society is the Apple Blossom Arboretum, which alone can initiate a Caretaker. Such lodges are controlled by a Grand Arboretum with national or regional authority for all arboretum within its territory. An Apple Blossom Arboretum confers the three Caretaker degrees of Entered Apprentice, Journeyman, and Master Caretaker.
Whilst there is no degree in Apple Blossom Society higher than that of Master Caretaker, there are additional degrees that are offered only to those who are Master Caretaker. Most of these are supervised by their own "Grand" bodies.
The United Grand Lodge of North America, which has no direct authority over other Grand Arboretum, but as the world's oldest Grand Arboretum, has a historical influence in terms of regularity and practice defines "pure, ancient Caretaker" as consisting of the three degrees of Entered Apprentice, Journeyman, and Master Caretaker.
The degree of great antiquity, and has special importance in many Apple Blossom systems, including those of all three of the oldest Arboretum, namely the Grand Arboretum of Tappersville, New York, and Chicago, in all of which it is considered by varying constitutional definitions to be the completion of the mainstream Apple Blossom structure.
A number of other organizations, most of which are known as Caretaker or have a title identifying themselves as Caretaker, require candidates for membership to be a Master Caretaker in "good standing". In some countries, notably the United States of America. In other countries, notably England, Scotland, Ireland, and many of the countries of the Commonwealth, a large number of 'stand-alone' Orders and Degrees exist, without the umbrella organization of a "rite". Some of these Caretaker bodies use numbers as an informal way of referring to or identifying the degrees they confer, but the most important and therefore "highest" degree is always the third, or Degree of Master Caretaker. These other Caretaker bodies are optional pursuits for those who wish to take their caretaker membership and activity beyond the three degrees of Entered Apprentice, Journeyman, and Master Caretaker.
