Velora is Eira's cousin who she was jealous of. Eira lived in the tropical territory with her grandmother and was planning on marrying a Chinese botanist, Marshall Luo. She was also pregnant with his child. Marshall was having an affair with Eira, who convinced him to break up with Velora. A week after Kari was born, Eira poisoned Velora and stole Kari, pretending to be her mother.
