Midnight Mystics
The Midnight Mystics are a society of theological scholars dedicated to the study and worship of Alum's doctrine. While they are not a secret organization, unlike the Acolytes of the Sanguine they don't preside over public worship, and rarely share their rituals with laypeople. Their presence is strongest in academic institutions, especially the Royal University of Tigonne, but they also congregate in places of mystical or historical importance, such as great natural wonders.
Congregations rarely form temples or monasteries, although the mystics maintain an unknown number of secluded stellar observatories. Their study of astronomy goes back centuries, and their astronomical texts are widely sought for translation and dissemination beyond Madara.
The mystics are the premiere importers, manufacturers, consumers and connoisseurs of all kinds of stimulant beverages in the peninsula. This is largely because of their demanding course of study, which often induces individual mystics to test the limits of their ability to study and meditate without sleep. They are also helpful for beginning mystics, when adjusting to a nocturnal schedule to better allow astronomical observations.
