Marriage

Under the Madaran religion marriage ceremonies can usually be performed by any chaplain, in front of any altar to any of the three Disciples.
The motivation behind marriage arrangements if often financial or political. This is as true for the common people as it is for the aristocracy and the great guild families of Ellador.
Any two people twenty one or older can be married by mutual agreement, regardless of gender. Polygamy is formally illegal, but polyamory is moderately accepted in some regions. Marriages are not required to be sexually consummated to be legally valid, but both spouses do have to demonstrate that they freely agreed to the union.
Marriage records are usually kept by chaplains, although the major cities in the Kingdom of Tigonne started implementing a demographic registry of marriages in recent generations.
