Koth Palace Guard

The palace guard, or royal guard, is an elite unit of guards dedicated to protecting the royal palace and the throne of Koth. They are loyal to the throne and not to the individual. Given a transition of power, their oath immediately transfers to the new reigning monarch, irrespective of the circumstances of their ascent and coronation. They are barracked in or near the Royal Palace of Koth in Kantul, and regularly patrol every part of the palace and grounds. Palace guards are typically more industrious and ambitious than their fellows, and are recruited based on their intelligence, drive, and loyalty to the throne. Unlike the more common guards in Kantul and Koth's other cities, they are often literate to some extent. Regular interaction with the aristocrats at court give their manners more polish than the average city guard.
