Session Seven - The Roaming Forest

General Summary

The party takes a rest inside the silent tunnel just before the exit and as such watch is decided. First to watch is Desmond who, entranced by the craftsmanship of the tunnels follows a seam to a doorway and proceeds to fall in. Drifting rather than falling to some space below, Desmond drops through a chill air feeling almost as if he is falling through water. When he lands he is greeted with mirrors all around protraying a reflection of himself. As he draws nearer to the reflections, all but one drop revealing a reflection of himself asking how he got here, who Desmond is, and how he is to leave. A battle ensues and Desmons comes out on top returning to camp via a way he is yet unsure. Gabe dreams of his alter ego, the Dream Carver who comments on his newly aged state and Maeve sleeps peacefully dreaming of the spirit of her sword, now tamed and more in tune with her own desires, she feels as if she is ready to take on more with it. Gabe takes watch and is greeted with further slumber before Maeve awakes and takes her turn. An unusually peaceful night completes and the party prepares to proceed further into the Roaming Forest. After a couple of hours of peaceful travel, the group is greeted by a macabre sight, a dead gnome hanging by a noose. Attempting to cut the gnome down, Maeve finds the gnome suspended by some otherworldly force and via a generous reminder by the DM, Gabe pulls out his lantern. The gnome greets the party cheerfully as Pullo the Messenger, referring to Gabe as Lord Gabriel Write, Dream Carver. Greeted with suspicion, Gabe convinces the party that he has no idea who this Dream Carver is, as he in fact, does not know. Siggy informs the party that the forest they are in is lost to time and they are lost themselves as they come across three paths in the forest, one heavily trodden, one deliberately laid, and one less traveled. Taking the heavily trodden path, the party are greeted by a creature and combat ensues with... nothing as they find themselves hurt and at the fork in the road. They are greeted with the decision of which path to take and in their deliberation are ambushed by the Silent One and his Silent Faithful, figures clad in bone and flesh with blades seemingly stitched to their arms and glowiong red eyes behind masks of various animals. As combat begins a spell is woven by the figure in a bear mask and the party feels as if they are under water, suffocating and moving at a sluggish pace. Who will come out on top? Will the sanity of the party continue to falter as they attempt to save the children? Only time will tell, time that is swiftly dwindling.
