Iaus Innskeep

(NPC) Iaus Innskeep (neutral good Tiefling veteran) is the village’s innkeeper and a key leadership figure. He lives in the Hope with his adoptive dwarven son, Barin. Iaus is a shrewd haggler, a former adventurer, and a well-respected figure within the village. Iaus is also the lead individual organizing local search efforts after all the village’s children vanished overnight. While Iaus is too proud to beg, he will do whatever it takes to get his son back, and will try to enlist the aid of the adventurers immediately upon hearing of their arrival. Iaus’s quiet demeanor is accented by occasional gallows humor. He is openly spiteful toward the gods and all forms of organized religion. On his regular trips to neighboring towns, he sometimes comes across deceased adventurers. He quietly adds their items to his shop after removing any identifying marks. These talents make Iaus a particularly good fence, and he will accept almost any goods he can afford to purchase. Iaus values his freedom and fears the very thought of enslaving another living being.
