The timeline split occurs at the establishment of Christianity. The Catholic Church doesn't exist but our current timeline's form of protestants, only called Christians, exist. The manuscripts were never destroyed and are readily available to the public in museums. There are still other religions, but Islam ends up being destroyed early on.
