Demons are discovered to be an infinite source of energy.

A small ragtag group of Ishallans formed a gang unknown to the government. They promoted hatred toward demons, often times defacing homes of denizens who housed demons and sometimes resorting to more violent means as methods of scaring the demon population. Nobody knew who they were, but the rumor going around was that they were humans, as the thought of doing violent things to their own kind was seen as abhorrent in Ishalla.

The group was in fact made up of humans, ones who grew up admiring Sara and Anglis as their sort of Gods in Ishalla.
This group kidnapped and tortured demons, generally extremely weak ones that a single human could easily overpower, or those who did not know the extent of their powers. After some point they realized that the demons release high amounts of energy when stressed, and eventually they went to higher ups with a theory on how to abuse these creatures as a free energy source.   Soon, demons from all around Ishalla were being captured and brought to undisclosed locations where they were tortured and researched. Eventually, Ishallan industries started developing machinery that could harness this power by stressing out a captured demon to force it to expel the energy locked away inside it. The earliest successful harnessing of their power was by forcing them to use barriers, if they were capable of doing so. Advertised as safety from demons and a sort of "KEEP OUT" sign to them, these were sold to the general public without disclosing the truth about how they worked.   As time went on, demons with the ability to manipulate natural resources were forced into slavery, such as ones that could generate electricity or water.   Soon however, with more and more of these systems popping up around various homes, stronger demons started sensing the nearly unnoticed energy coming from these homes and the demon population soon started to fear for their lives when rumors spread about the kidnapping. A picture was being painted in their minds about what was happening, and the rumors were all true. Demons soon started asking their allies for any aid in determining how these machines worked, and after looking inside many machines, they discovered stressed and fearful demons locked inside. The reveal spread like wildfire, and soon these machines were being destroyed across the whole town.   Not everyone destroyed their machines however, and these people were treated as enemies of demons and their allies.   A major power plant using demons as a power source was erected. While the public was mostly outraged, it was deemed too essential for energy production to shut down. The government refused to shut down the plant. The kidnapping of demons and maintaining of them as a free power source continued up until the year 1.769, when The Bull came into power. He outlawed the free energy source and demanded that any remaining machines abusing this system be destroyed. He had his Officials actively hunting for any leftover machinery. Some still exist to this day.
It made me uneasy, this sphere. It always sounded like it was screaming, but I never knew where it was coming from, or if it was even real to begin with...
