Trythe

Trythe is mystery. Bound not just by the stars above or the ground beneath, but by sources beyond comprehension. The Glimmering to the north, a vast icy plain, inhabited by a gargantuan wandering light from which none return. The Brine to the south, an immeasurably deep ocean that stretches for thousands of miles before meeting the edge of the world and tumbling ceaslessly downward into nothingness. But those are far from any known civilization. The greatest mystery is the one right in front of the inhabitants of Trythe.   The Wound, as it is known, is just that. A massive chasm, almost as if some celestial being was trying to cut the world in two. It divides the eastern and western oceans, which pour to a destination unknown. The bottom, if it exists, has never been documented. Nearly a hundred miles across and five times as long, what would be a place devoid of life or sentient activity has become a hive for civilization, provided by the past.   Long before history, or memories of any Trythe's inhabitants, was a forgotten people. They built along The Wound, in cities perched on rock outcroppings, dangling over an endless fall. Vast, shining steel bridges, stretching across the chasm in all directions to connect the two sides. Floating cities, hovering miles from solid land, powered by archaic machines that resist all understanding. These settlements are unlike any grounded on land, resisting laws and political influence, but maintaining a significant population of researchers, eager to understand The Wound and technology left behind.   The world is changing. Technology is being discovered, and boundaries are being pushed. Political intrigue and tensions abound, fueled by the desire to control what new powers are discovered. Treasure hunters and secret societies gather resources in the shadows, for purposes unknown.   What adventures will occur? That remains to be seen.
