Syenn Var

The Syenn Var (Malaki Infinite field) is the vast expanse of vegetation that spans from the Habeto lowlands to the Straight of Blood. Sometimes referred to as the "Sea of grass", "Green Sea" or simply the "Wildlands", it is mostly unexplored and to this day there exist a great many stories which originate from the colonies surrounding the sea, as well as those few who dare to travel it. One of the most curious aspect to the Syenn Var is it's sheer size, as well as the size of everything within it. The majority of the vegetation that makes up the Green sea is a type of common grass. However the base of its stalks can become thick as birch-trunks, the leaves broader than a man, and the tips as high as the mast an imperial trireme.
Shortly after the cresting of the summer, the entire Syenn Var is seen in blazes, burning down to mere ashes. Though only a couple of days later the grass has returned, rising out of the ashes at speeds which can be observed by the naked eye. Many call this to be the work of fire elves.

Geography

The names it has is known by are all well earned. While it is wild and untamed, it is also a place of natural splendor. Standing atop a cliff in the Densalt is one of the most breathtaking experiences after the holy grace itself. The Res, as the locals call , does indeed look like an ocean of green, from horizon to horizon.
The exact dimensions of the Sea of grass are estimated to be about 300'000 Elym, though it may be much larger or smaller than that. The western border of the Syenn Var is almost the Chiidamian Sea. While the Emdreu who inhabit those shores require farmland, and as such that border is slowly, yet steadily creeping eastwards. The Habeto Lowlands mark the north eastern most border of the Syenn Var, while the Densalt hills shape its southeastern front. The northward extension halts upon the Green Sea's meeting with Mt Avil. To the south, one finds the Breathless Steppes, though in some parts the steppe gives way to the sea of green, allowing the massive blades to tower upon the high cliffs of the Psaris Coast.
The type of terrain the Syenn Var spans across is mostly a mystery, though earlier expeditions tell that the sea of grass is mostly a flatland, with occasional hill landscapes that rise from the green with thinner, more common grass. There are a number of rivers that run through the sea of grass, however only two of them have been explored. From the north, the Rhodus flows into the Wildlands, and as it approaches it begins to wind like a snake, as though it too does not wish to venture further into the unknown. From the east, of the Jevar Mountains, the bul enters the Syenn Var with much more bravado than the former, as his descent is steeper and with less ease upon the rocky earth of the Densalt.

Fauna & Flora

The inhabitants of wildlands, be they beast or plant, are wonderful and mysterious, though can pose a serious threat even to those aware of the danger. This entry does not list every living thing found in the Syenn Var, nor could it even come close to, as records tell this is the most diversely populated region in the known world, though Tamael is even less explored. The different species of moth inhabiting a single Elym alone could easily fill any collector's empty exhibitions. There is many a beast that calls this hostile land to man their home, and seems to have been created for the sole purpose of thriving within its thickets. For a list of the more prominent species found in the Syenn Var, see this article: List of Species found in the Syenn Var. There have additionally been a large number of legends about those who live in the Syenn Var. A common belief is that dragons live atop Thandanys within the very center. Other songs tell of fire elves who wander the earth and once every year make their way to the center of the green sea to celebrate the cresting of the summer. Others tell of a gargantuan white furred snake, with ten thousand maws that plows through the Sea of Grass, devouring everything in their past. Are these bedtime tales for children? Yes. But do they hold a kernel of truth? Possibly.

Natural Resources

The ground of the Syenn Var is naturally very fertile, and would make excellent farmland if tamed. However, as described above, this is easier said than done. The Ras Dir is hard to remove, making clearing the land a long, painstaking process. In addition, it leaves the workers usually exposed to the beasts lurking in the thickets.
While this has not had any credible source, it is said that the rivers and earth of the Syenn Var hold a high amount of gold, and to a lesser extent, other precious minerals. This has yet to be proven.
