The Divide
Overview
General
Among the many things that have been created throughout history by the peoples, the most impressive by far is the Divide. A large, man-made rift of water where there was once a stretch of five hundred kilometers worth of land that disappeared in an instant. It is a reminder of how magic can be abused, and that anyone attempting to re-create the events that made the Divide should be stopped at all costs.Creation
There are not many reports on what specifically created the Divide, but there are several theories, many of which revolve around the idea of it being by-design through various weapons, and others are from accidents with secret experiments. Firstly, there is the possibility of a mana bomb having been deployed in order to destroy the rift and is most certainly the most plausible. A mana bomb, which is considered to be the epitome of evocation magic, is simply a bomb that has a severely condensed amount of mana inside of it that, when activated, can destroy the equivalency of 1 kilometer for every 1 meter of mana compressed. The only problem with this theory is that it would have completely decimated all of the cities, but scholars have found the remnants of Phumus below the watery void. Secondly, there is the possibility of a magic sink. This is to say, the ability to terraform the entire area and have it rapidly sink to be underneath the water. This is possible, but the amount of mana that it would take and the control would need a group that is completely dedicated to the task. As such, it's probable that the occurrence could have been possible. Finally, there was the possibility of simply an explosion from Phumus which vaporized much of the land around it. This is by far the least probably due to the fact that it would have completely decimated the city of Phumus as well unless there were wards that were placed upon each and every building. However, regardless of how ridiculous this theory is, it still has traction.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
