The Troll Wars

The Troll Wars started when an ice troll had enough of being cast aside from its home by the dark elves one too many times. When it had found itself in the frozen swamps, it pulled together as many trolls as it could. Then, when it allied itself with a powerful Shade, their combined powers helped them to sweep through the lands. They were able to attack the orc cities, the dwarven mountains, and the elven towns. However, because of the Shade's presence, the construction of more trolls had an ill-effect. The trolls were becoming unstable and eventually became diseased. The illness spread and jump species until it was deadly to humans and elves as well. 
The epic conclusion of the war came to a head when the trolls battled House Orbbelgguren. The overall battle destroyed the town where it was being fought and had created a negative plasma elemental that ravaged the area. To this day the town is now a wasteland full of pockets of anti-magic. 
While the ice troll and the Shade were both destroyed in the process, many trolls retreated back into the cold swamps and are still a threat to the surrounding areas.
