Personal history
Born to a small family in Londlad, Sterling had a quiet childhood and while the family didn't suffer, they were not very well off. Sterling could often be found listening to epic stories of elves who would do what needed to be done to bring justice to those who broke taboos, tales of the goodness and justness of the elven leaders, and stories of flamboyant characters who wanted for nothing. Sterling gained a near obsession with those 'heroes'.
When he was sent on his pilgrimage to discover his Yentu, the trip took him throughout the western part of the continent. He saw firsthand that not all towns were as fair or just as his, and was bothered by this.
Once his Yentu was decided he began his formal training, vowing to himself he would be a just leader for his people.
Following his training he took a posting in Oitun, but upon arriving in the town was drawn into a group opposed to the way the town leadership was acting. Afraid that as a newly appointed member he wouldn't be able to serve the people in his just ideal, he joined up with the dissidents. Deciding to put his leadership training to good use, he organized the small band of men into what he saw as warriors for justice, the town guard had a different name though, 'nuisance'. They spent their days living in the forest outside town, drinking and occasionally intervening in town matters, for an 'equitable redistribution of goods'
He spent a number of years with this group before deciding that they could handle themselves, and the thought that injustice was everywhere, and he should do his best to stop it. His travels eventually landed him in Shyrtaesi, where he met a lovely Yentu-Na, Rue with whom he continues his mission to bring justice to the world!
Education
Typical childhood education. After he found his Yentu, he studied in Need for 150 years, and spent the next 25 traveling the cities of the world, and learning about local customs and laws. The final commencement of his training was being placed in Hosailin, where he would assist the city leadership.

Motivation
What I do, I do for the world. The people don't realize how much they need me. I idolize a hero of the old tales and measure my deeds against that person's. The common folk must see me as a hero of the people. I am exceptional. I do this because no one else can, and no one can stop me.
My freedom is my most precious possession. I'll never let anyone take it from me.
I am important; I will not let anyone forget that. I stretch the truth for the sake of a good story.
I can't resist prying into anything forbidden, since it must be terribly interesting.
I enjoy using my skills to help those who lack those same skills.
I have no qualms about stealing from the dead.
I love gold but won't cheat a friend. Never pass up the opportunity to make an easy bit of coin. That's my motto.
