Peren Siannodel

Protector of the Sacred Forest (a.k.a. Puck)

Personal history

Born the only child of Shava Amakir and Varis Liadon   Parents raised me with a strict education: mathematics, astronomy, studies of plants and animals, the changes in seasons and weather. All explained in droll detail that seemed to take some of the color and fun from the world around me.   I found this upbringing dreadfully dull and would often sneak out whenever I could to go into town and play with the other kids and prank people from time to time, often getting into trouble, this earned me the nickname of "Puck" while I was a youth. When someone got particularly mad at me I would run and hide in the outskirts of the forest. One day after when I was 14 years old, I ran farther into the forest than I had ever before, and ended up in the grove with a willow tree and the still pool. A breeze ran through the glade and stirred the shoots to dance across the surface of the pool causing a beautiful pattern of circles dancing across the pool. I laid down in the glade to rest after running. This is the first time I had a dream of a wonderful realm that beckoned me with the beauty of its splendor. I would often dream in the shade of the tree and go on grand adventures and see fantastical sights in my dreams.   I first started meeting a dryad in my dreams after my 20th birthday. First, watching from afar then as she continued to observe me, week by week, she moved closer until we started talking about the great forest. As we conversed and walked through the forest in my dreams she started to teach me the secrets of nature beyond the simple facts that my parents taught me in their lessons. The hidden wonders shown me by the dryad were like a deluge of color had been added to my view of the world and the world in which I had grown, became duller as the years went on. The forest and my dreams were where I was at peace and had the most wonderful dreams.   As I learned the secrets of nature from my teacher my lessons would continue until while dreaming in the Autumn of my 25th year, I case my first spell, "Druidcraft" making one of the buds on the dryad's hair blossom revealing its azure interior and a faint green glow emanated from the center. I noticed that the glow of the flower was the same as her eyes during the night.   Once I cast my first spell and talked with my parents about my lessons in the forest they started teaching me magic alongside my general education. I spoke of my dreams and they started teaching me the School of Divination believing my dreams could be showing me signs of changes to come. During the early portions of my training parents taught me to draw my what I could remember from my dreams so that I might learn to interpret them slowly until I got better at Divination. I took to sketching all of my dreams, not just those that seemed to be tinged with signs of the future (Painter's supplies proficiency). I filled over a dozen sketch books before I finished my Wizard training the year before my Pilgrimage.   Before leaving for my Pilgrimage my Dryad master gave me a gift before I left. She whispered to me of a path of safety through the forest before promising to reveal herself to me once I had returned. With the knowledge of my parents and the wisdom of my teacher I traveled leisurely through hidden paths while resting in peaceful groves and glades. My Pilgrimage was one of walking through the forest as I had been taught by my teacher, I took my time to admire the beauty of the forest, one of the few places left in the world that was not dulled by my parents' education.   My dreams on my return were dark and foreboding, the forest seemed to react to this and the paths once clear seemed to be shadowed and covered in brambles, forcing me to go around glades that had once been clear. I rushed home as my dreams changed from darkness to those of fire and chaos. Upon arriving home I ran to the glade to see if anything was wrong, only to discover my master fighting [DM's choice where some things had escaped through the secret portal guarded by my master]. I helped her cleanup the last few that were in the glade before she bid me go and hurry back to the town to help those that had slipped past her in the fight. She gifted me the moon sickle I still carry with me to assist with dispatching the creatures that had escaped.   I ran back to town along the fastest route I knew, killing another of the creatures before seeing the edge of the town was on fire as a handful of the creatures had started attacking the townsfolk. I started attacking the closest of the creatures when I heard a roar from further in town. Realizing the extent of the danger I started to recklessly fight the last of the small creatures. In my arrogance I lost a finger to one of the beasts (pinky on my right hand). With a quick curse and healing spell I closed the wound and rushed to the center of town to see a hulking creature of fire and ash burning its way through town, currently fighting the few guards who were not assisting the townsfolk to shelter farther from the creature.   Working with the guards we fought a dreadful encounter with the fiend. Before we could slay the beast two more guards were slain and I sustained a large burn to the left side of my chest leaving a dark scar in a swirling pattern that has not disappeared after all these years.   After destroying the fiend I collapsed and awoke in the doctor's or my house [DM Choice] nine days later. I found that the damage to the town was kept mostly to the edge of town and the area around the area where the fiend was slain. Including myself, 20 people had been injured or lost their lives. I was lauded by the townsfolk and the old nickname of Puck was cleansed of the negative feelings from the townsfolk, the name becoming a term of endearment for me among those adults I had once pranked as a younger child.   As the years passed and my training continued under Amastacia, one night I had a dream of darkness and fire coming from the south and Amastacia agreed that she sensed something had gone wrong to the south and that we may have missed one of the fiends all those years ago who has now become strong enough to be a threat to the forest itself.   I leave to go make sure that nothing from that night had escaped and discover the reason behind my terrible dreams and my Master's sense of worry.

Peren Siannodel - Natus elf that prefers night time to the day; favorite season is Winter. Seems bored unless there is something exciting going on.
