The Hall of Gates
The Hall of Gates is a seemingly endless corridor with doors covering the walls. Skilled spatial mages use this location to travel wherever they see fit. Though some doors require more energy than others, making each door more or less difficult than the other.
The Doors
The doors covering the walls of the Hall lead to varying places. Every dimension has at least one door, as one is formed whenever a dimension comes into existence, without fail. When someone opens one of the doors, a deep magic awakens, and it attempts to form a gate between the Hall and the location the door leads to. If one does not have enough magical energy to sustain it, they will fall unconscious. A normal person cannot open a door for even a brief moment, but a particularly talented spatial mage may be able to hold the connection for hours at a time. Only a few mages are capable of telling which door leads where, leading many to keep a logbook of doors.Maddening Effects
Those who enter the Hall of Gates are subjected to a distorted perception of reality. Only those who have the willpower to endure the place will be able to maintain their sanity there, let alone use it. The hall twists and turns, the person within feels a constant sense of dread, rage, and anxiety. Even to those accustomed to the place, these effects are uncomfortable.Architecture
As one walks through the Hall of Gates, they'll find the architectural style begins to shift and change as they go further in. There are some places where it is labyrinthine, others where the floor shifts ever slowly until one is walking on the ceiling, and others still where the styles and shapings appear as if not made by man.
Given the nature of the Hall, one could walk forever and never reach the end.
