The Elemental Plane

The Elemental Plane is a dimension fueled and maintained by the four elements. Each one has its own region.

Fire

The fire region of the Elemental Plane is very mountainous, with a few active volcanoes. Rivers of lava snake throughout the area.   On the northern coast, the Encroachment runs as a black scar, a reminder of ice and fire explosively colliding.   A cult under the name "Histen's Scales" resides in the region, within elaborate tunnel systems that span for miles.

Ice

After fire and ice clashed, the ice region mostly turned to sea. However, what's left is a cold valley, with rivers partially frozen, and strange fish that lurk beneath.   One village is known to exist within the ice region, and they live off of whatever they can catch underneath the water. Their homes are large, wooden structures that tower over anybody living there.

Earth

The earth region is a flatland with hills scattered about. Forests, big and small can be found; even the biggest tree known to exist, Draedenalie.   The main population of Spellquivers lived in this region, due to its stable climate and comfortable temperatures.

Air

The air region was once a grand kingdom named Arrenterius. However, due to the Spread, it was split off from the rest of the Elemental Plane. And continues to float further away, broken apart by its own magic.

The Spread

The Spread is a thing unique to the Elemental Plane. Each region, made of a different element, slowly spreads and shifts to different parts of the land. And when two elements clash, it can be catastrophic.

The Encroachment

The only known instance of two elements fully clashing was quite recent. Due to the magicks of Basarios, the Elemental Plane rapidly changed. Mountains came up where there were flatlands, the sea became larger, and the spread of the regions sped up.   Even after Basarios was defeated, the harm was not reversible. The most that could be done was attempt to slow the spread, but even that proved far too difficult.   And so, eventually fire and ice clashed, releasing enough magic to send a black scar across the coast of the fire region.
