1x08 - Cards Face Up
General Summary
The following days were quite busy for the gang: adding the last details for the smuggling plan, figuring what to do about the suffered vandalism and, obviously, trying to boost the recently acquired mining company. A company not really healthy, as they soon discovered: without a rich mineral vein in their hands, the company is doomed to mantain a modest, brittle accounting book. For the last issue, the group decided to turn to the nomads in the system, trying to gain information on some prospecting site in Melik. But first, they need an exchange currency.
While doing they're research, a man sent by Zubin Rouhani rang at their door: their sponsor is in the system, and wants to meet them.
"My dear, I'm happy to see you alive and healthy. I sincerely hope you did your homework in the meantime. I sent you with precise orders, to gain contacts and a foothold in the system. And to learn what's going on. Well... it's time to tell you why you're here." the gargantuan silhouette of Zubin Rouhani moved a bit on the reinforced armchair "...there's something going on right now. Factions are stirring up, moving their pieces in Melik. My... contacts tell me the conflict is ready to erupt, and this mean business. A big, rich business."
"You see, I will need your pretty faces when everything will start. Neutral faces, not bound to anyone, that will be able to sell my goods to various factions involved. Unfortunately I'm.. let's say compromised, and some contacts are precluded to me or my guys. This is where I'm going to place you" "But there's another thing. Have you ever heard of the Radiation Spires? It's a mythical place, blessed by the Icons and a source of miraculous powers. Stories about supernatural healings abound around the topic. It exists somewhere in Melik, but the last reports about this legenday place are centuries old, and no one knows it's exact location."
"So, here's the thing: it could be a truly blessed place, but I suspect there's something more. A Portal Builder artifact perhaps, with an immense power, ready to be exploited."
"And I want it"
After this encounter the group was sent back on the station, back to their business. If what Zubin told them was true, they don't have much time to settle the business they have. However, their projects were briefly interrupted by a call from Nahib, asking for help in the Promenade. There, they found a huge brawl going on. Without much formalities they scattered the mob, bringing back the calm. Here, they were confronted by the cause of the brawl: a familiar woman that welcomed with a smirk. "Hi there, long time no see" said @Mitra
