Tyrannus the Trashdragon

Tyrannus is a legend of Detritus, a huge dragon said to be native to this plane, of a hitherto-unseen type. Most visitors scoff at the legend or treat it as a delightful diversion, but they will often be surprised that the people of Detritus have an almost religious reverence for Tyrannus. Even though most citizens will never see him in their lifetimes, they know someone who knows someone who did, and the willingness to believe that he exists comes from the deep-rooted mindset springing from a lifetime of everyday weirdness: on Detritus, anything is possible.   Most citizens of Detritus go about their lives with no thought of Tyrannus. Stories swirl around him, sightings occasionally excite the populace and give the lucky adventurer (or liar) a good story to gain them free drinks for quite some time to come, but there are a few sects who take the legend a little more seriously. First, there is Captain Hinter, a bold adventurer who runs a small fleet of scout and scavenger ships out of Port Scoff. Captain Hinter has made it his life's mission to find and kill Tyrannus.   Then there is the Memorial Expeditionary Speculators' Society (MESS) who consider Tyrannus one of their prized Marvels. Any member of MESS who can find proof of Tyrannus' existence will be added to their Wall of Marvels and awarded money to fund their own expedition into the Silt Sea to investigate further.   The Cult of the Trashdragon (or Tyrannians, as they call themselves) are a niche sect who worship Tyrannus as the god of Detritus and make regular pilgrimages out to the Silt Sea to meditate upon his divine power. While most people consider the Tyrannians to be a group of harmless weirdos, and the other faiths consider them dangerous heretics, it is reported than some Tyrannians display divine abilities akin to those of priests from other churches. Is this proof that Tyrannus is truly a godlike being? Or evidence that divine power doesn't care what you believe in, as long as you believe in something?
