Dial

"Would you look at the time?" -Arthur Diallon. Famous phrase said by him, after demonstrating how the Dial works in a public display, and being ran over by a sphinx carriage. It is now a saying  for bad omens.   -Class c spell.

Effect

A small construct of a clock appears, hovering above the arm that performed the spell, telling the time. More modern versions of this spell tells time by voice.

Discovery

This is one of the first recorded creation of a spellbook, or as spell for that matter. Before this spell existed, people were paid as timekeepers (usually non-arcanes), using sundials and other archaic  means of timekeeping, and won their living by passing the information along to the general public. Arthur Diallon, an avid drinker, tired of paying and the bother of looking for a timekeeper (but mostly for the money, that he could be spending on important liquor), he created the spell and revolutionized timekeeping since.   Of course that led for many non-arcanes to lose their jobs, and so a large parcel of them retreated even more in the job-latter, increasing the market in agriculture and mining, which endured until the current times.    These facts are in the Arcanix compendium.
