The Poisoned Will
On the 14th of Corn Moon, 5040, on or about the beginning of the War of Revenge, Dannan Cornelius Meteorswarm and his Nurse/Mistress Lorna Sparklingsky created a document to test the loyalty of the Seconds-in-Command of his Cartel.
This document, The Last Will and Testiment of Dannan Meteorswarm, was intoxicated with a powerful contact nervetoxin that would swiftly overwhelm and kill andone who touched even the smallest portion of the ink that it was written with.
When they all failed the test (all but Lorna), the Don was grief stricken and wasted away to death a week later.

Background
The Last Will and Testiment of Don Dannan Meteorswarm defined who the confirmed bachelor, with no obvious heir, was leaving in control of the Meteors Cartel
History
When Don Dannan had reason to believe that his Karrs were disloyal, he hatched a plan in his last days to test that loyalty. With the help of his Mistress and Nurse, Karra Lorna Sparklingsky, he created a deadly contact poison ink. He then penned six copies of his Last Will in said ink. He sealed the documents and left strict instructions with his 6 Karrs (including Lorna) not to open the letter until instructed to do so by Lorna, under the proper circumstances, after his passing.
If they had listened to instructions, Lorna would've warned them about the poison when they went to read the will after the Don's death. The Will left control of the Cartel to Lorna, but left each of his Karrs with sizable portions of his amassed wealth, enough for a lifetime.
However, the letters were not left sealed as each of the five other Karrs gave in to their greed and unsealed the letter to read it, thus ending their lives in a quick but very painful way.

Public Reaction
When the Cartel heard of the disloyalty, they were shocked to the core, but none so taken with it as the Don himself, who sealed himself in his chambers and took no food until he slowly, just, died about a week later.
Legacy
Because of the Will, nobody wanted their loyalty questioned, and the Cartel became almost fauning sycophants to Donna Lorna until the wily little Bar'Tor weeded out the truly loyal and the superficially devoted, and put her tiny little foot down about it in some very final ways.
