Githyanki fled to the south after the last calamity that shook the world. They as a people are ill suited both for extreme cold and extreme dark which their new home proved to be both. The process of evolution has begun. After 300 or so years in the caverns below the southern ice some noticeable changes have happened to the Gith. Their skin tone is lighter, greyer, with a bluish hue. They are now naturally adapted to life in a cold environment, they have resistance to cold and cold damage.
