Seven-Day Fever

OVERVIEW

Caused by germinated bacteria inside the veils of the Common Sungus, a hardy mushroom located throughout Cavossii in the shape of a 1600km "fairy ring". It is a disease that threatens the natives of Cavossii for their weak immune system. As the fungus reproduces, it spreads out the bacteria which laces its spores, whom it relies on for finding hosts. These bacteria deteriorate twenty hours after dispersal. According to religion and belief, any rational Cavossan fear and despise leaving their home country, deeming the disease a curse, and a punishment from God. It was named Cavossenic Poisoning by the aristocrats of Esneau 190 years ago who visited that same year.

SYMPTOMS

After seventeen hours of incubation, fever-like symptoms are imminent. On the first two days of the disease introduces sweating, migraine, chills, and weakness. Prominently these symptoms remain constant throughout the disease's time in the body, only progressing to unimaginable lengths until the patient dies from drained stamina and overwhelming pain. This finally proceeds to the last two days, the patient suffers from either arterosclerosis, paralysis, or both at once, finally ending it all with sweet release.

HISORY & CULTURE

It has been described by the Quintumvirate Praeteritum to have existed since Torrentia's creation, birthed and stored by God's will, daring to be released to the world once his subjects displayed unloyalty until 1GE. Cavossii was known as Inaharah then, in which that year was the day it's people had been trapped by his punishment, for fleeing the country from the rule of the tyrannical prophet, Dora-Aiinu. Dora-Aiinu prayed that should his position, chosen by the pantheon, not be revered by his people will be punished, and the world's largest fairy ring was created, by the power of Alacanis. The event became known throughout Inaharah and its neighbors, not only creating culture out of fear inside the ring, but out. Inaharans deemed leaving the ring, whether the fever was contracted or not, an irreversible curse, while surrounding natives from the outside, believed they would be killed for entering the fairy ring and into Aiinu's domain, against Alacanis' will. This all proceeds to present day.

TREATMENT

Consuming the same species that dealt the ailment is enough to counteract the Seven-Day Fever. As a human stomach breaks down its stalk, its makeup breaks down into protein which degrades the walls of the bacteria, killing it, and resulting in a cure.
However, this must be done during its incubation period, as once more prominent signs are shown, too much damage within the body is not enough time for Sungus stalks to eradicate the pathogen.
Additionally, the human body has a 1/5 chance of surviving the Seven-Day Fever, but even then the mortality rates constantly skyrocket for the natives' weak immune system. If the disease does not result in their untimely demise, sheer pain and low energy surely will.
With enough tuition in the field of medics, cures are possible to make. Unfortunately, this is impossible for Cavossii's low technological level.

PREVENTION

This usually applies to those who enter Cavossii, such as tourists, mercenaries, refugees, etc. Those of such nature always drape themselves in long, ragged clothing, covering the body, arms, legs, neck, head, mouth, and nose. This way, spores adhere to a person's clothing to be washed off, only decreasing chances of contraction.
Magic will always be a bane to the existence of disease yet it is unfortunate for its rarity, as the population of outsiders within Cavossi are of Viseran descent, including those who can utilize their magic. Viseran magic can be used to eradicate or vaporize bacteria particles in the air.
