Kalfkeen City

Kalfkeen City is a location with a lot of history. The most notable building is the observatory on the edge of town, with a small river passing below it. The forest that borders the city on one side is home to an abandoned mansion, and a reconstruction of said mansion sits in the middle of the city.

Defences

The abandoned mansion on the outskirts of the city is a strange place. It is built just on the edge of reality, where dreaming and waking run together like molasses. To make things worse for any hapless travelers, there is only one being whose dream matters in this place. Once you enter the dreamscape, you cannot leave without the King's permission. You must earn the King's favor and request to leave, but doing so while following the strict rules of the His domain is difficult enough that none have succeeded in living memory.

Districts

The observatory is a picturesque location, with a babbling brook and a nice layout of rocks. Beside the building is an open field where the former Gym Leader held her battles, and inside the ceiling is painted with stars. If you want information on outer space and what comes out of it, this is the place to go.   The mansion in the center of the city is peak luxury. Built to impress, only parts of it are actually functional, but it serves as the city's gym. Before entering, rules are strictly told three times by the doorman. Once inside, failure to follow the rules results in penalties ranging from losing a Pokémon to failing the challenge.   The abandoned mansion at the edge of the forest is overrun with plant life, and is much more vibrant then it appears. It is full of secret passages and other holdovers from an age of sieges and invasions. The rundown mansion seems to be inhabited by the same beings that inspired the gym challenge, and follow a similar set of rules.

History

This city's Gym Leader is a point of contention, with the former leader Aria retiring recently. The issue is the man she passed it onto, who died almost immediately. His son was slated to inherit, but due to a bureaucratic mix-up was legally declared dead in the brief window of time when the Gym was switching hands. He could have corrected this by showing up during the transfer, but he was coincidentally lost in the abandoned mansion at the time. Instead, the dead leader's daughter inherited the position, and most everyone agrees that she is a bitch.
