Adventure Strain

Being an adventurer can lead to a lot of wear and tear on ones body. If you do not take care of yourself and maintain your body, old injuries and strains can haunt you in your old age.

Causes

The common cause for Adventure Strain is when an adventurer retires and their old wounds don't heal right. Sometimes when an adventurer descends into Avernus to fight and defeat Lady Zariel, a demon slashes at them and loses a claw in them. The adventurer may return and retire, never removing that claw. That claw may cause residual damage or discomfort for the adventurer. This is one example of Adventure Strain.   Adventure Strain is most common in adventurers who have a fear or mistrust of magic. As magic can heal an adventurer and repair their body, failing to utilize magic can result in a body that deteriorates significantly sooner.   Races that live significantly longer typically treat adventure strain as soon as they notice it, else wise they would live a significantly longer time in discomfort. Some adventurers intentionally do not have their injuries treated. Some adventurers would prefer to wear their wounds as a memory of a well fought battle, a slain nemesis, or a good story to share at the tavern.

Symptoms

Adventure Strain can have all sorts of symptoms. It is, after all, a blanket term for any pains that started from an adventurer going on adventures. The most common forms come from deteriorating joints, especially the knees and elbows, as adventurers tend to jump, fall constantly and swing things constantly.

Treatment

Once adventure strain is manifested, it is usually permanent. If the victim has not sought any sort of healing or divine intervention from Adventure Strain, it is most likely going to remain until they expire.
