The Verdegar Resistance

In Underven of 2640 ANG, a contingent of troops from the Second Litherian Empire marched into Verdegar with orders to burn it to the ground, denying Everflame its food source. With the border guards defeated, the invasion was expected to be over within days. However, the local populace, on orders from Everflame City, had prepared for such an eventuality. Taking advantage of Verdegar's dense forests in conjunction with Underven's dark nights, the resistance launched multiple hit-and-fade attacks against the troops, chipping away at their strength and slowing their progress. Despite the resistance's efforts, however, all seemed lost when the troops reached Southwood, Verdegar's biggest city. The resistance prepared a defence, but with just hours to work, it made little difference.
The troops entered the city, and, according to (possibly exaggerated) accounts, the city's priest called for help to Jothir, the god of nature, and five minutes later, it was answered. An army of fey creatures attacked the troops from behind as surviving resistance members rallied the city's populace to push the soldiers back. In total, the battle lasted 90 minutes, with over four hundred Litherian casualties.
The resistance disbanded, returning to their lives, though some of the fey creatures remained. It is said that those who fought alongside the fey at Southwood will be protected by them for life, a theory none have yet decided to test.
