Olthazahr The Forgotten One

Written by Hendorella

The Dread Lord

A great teal fog stretches and slithers over the battlefield, soaking any and all of the dead and dying with a damp coating of a thin slimy residue. The moon above illuminates the vast field and reveals to the defenders' horrors beyond their wildest nightmares. Thousands of once slain enemies rise once again to repeat their assault on the keep of HayBrook. arrows and heavy rocks are catapulted into the air, cutting apart and smashing the attacking hordes and they slam into the stone walls.   the mounds of Undead troops horde themselves against the walls creating a ramp like structure and allowing others the make their way to the crenulations and begin thier assault on the poor denizens of Haybrook. The endless horde marches on as far as the eye can see, where one falls 2 more lumber over its corpse. endlessly marching.   Just as the defense is tied in with the ground forces, A ghost like legion of Spectors and reapers lead out of the clouds and descend upon the men defending the walls, hopelessly overwhelming any effort at an organized defense effort. The lords men begin to break and run, fear consuming their every thought.   The Dread Lord observes the conflict from afar. ensuring the victory is sealed before turning his attention to his tome, chanting and whispering ancient phrases of power. A blue Hue of breath slips out of his mouth and reaches fourth from the Dread lords position high in the sky, and crawls across the battlefield. The necrotic wave of energy reanimates those who've fallen and chokes those who still draw breath. Further ensuring his victory, and bringing him one step closer to relieving him of his bargain made long ago.   Commanding legions of fodder, His power covers a sizable portion of the central regions of Tilea. Most have never heard of him, but that's his intention. A world made unaware is a world made vulnerable.

History

Olthazhar the Forgotten One is a long-lived Priest who mastered the Arcane arts eons ago, and now seeks to further his power and influence over the world. For thousands of years he's researched and studied and raided for knowledge of the past. Just as the Heroes quest for glory, treasure, and adventure, so too Olthazhar quests for something.   Born to a vast city thousands of years ago, Olthazhar grew up in a land that knew nothing but clear skies and bountiful harvests. His early years were mainly spent studying and discovering his uncanny talent for the arcane arts, and all that entails. The City Elders along with the rest of the inhabitants practiced a sacred form of arcana, known as Música Arcanum. This was a form of magic where a piece of music was imbued with the emotions and arcane abilities of the composer. This form of magic was originally intended to allow for great illusory displays of wonderful images and shows during concerts held within the city's ballrooms.   While this arcane advancement allowed his childhood to be quite literally fantastical, his youth was cut short when an army commanded by the blue dragon Legrath on the prowl for wealth and treasure stumbled upon his well-hidden homeland. They stormed the city with numbers so great the defense force was overwhelmed almost immediately. When the raiding forces arrived the the musical halls of study, they killed took the survivors prisoners and interrogated them regarding the location of the city's treasure. The city had no great vaults bearing mountains of gold like the dwarves, and borne no hall of gems and statues like the elves, Music was their treasure. once the raiders came to realize that they would find no wealth here, they slaughtered all the prisoners in anger.   As Olthazhar lay dying he made a deal with a powerful deity who granted him mastery of his already accelerated arcane abilities. He drew his final breath, and unleashed a mighty arcane Pyroclasm that shattered the city into 2 halves. The Draconic Raiders were slain in moments, fear now replacing their disappointment. He used his new found mastery and opened his mind to the library of magic that had been bequeathed to him. His feet lifted off the ground and he began to rise towards the heavens hundreds of feet in the air. As he towered above the city suspended in flight, he chanted a sacred hymm and it began to rain a black rain. The Draconic army began to flee the walls of this horrible eldritch nightmare city. slowly but surly eldritch beams cackled and zipped down from the heavens and Olthazhars command, striking down all of those who remained within the city walls.   He used the last of his remaining borrowed strength and summoned perhaps the mightiest of all spells, and he wished for them all to be gone. The realm quaked in sorrow, for it had never felt a loss of life on such a colossal scale. The mountains howled out in fear at Olthazhars new found power. The rivers began to flow backwards and all the animals of the world sought shelter against a world turned harsh. The world changed forever that day, and no one has seen him since then.

Goals

Olthazhar is not a complicated man, he likes long walks on the astral plane and a view with no dragons. His original attempt to wipe out all the draconic races went off course when his original Wish spell he casted was not casted specifically enough. Olthazhar only said "kill all of them", and since there were only blue related draconic races in the army that attacked the city, only the blue draconic races were destroyed. A Lesson in properly using a Wish. After casting this Wish, Olthazhar found himself unable to cast another, the ability to fold and twist reality at his will had been stripped from him by the realm itself out of rebellion for the Dreadlord's heartless callousness towards life. Now he seeks the destruction of those his wish did not touch.

Methods of Attaining his Goals

Now Olthazhar quests to destroy the rest of the draconic races, the hard way this time. His first act as Dreadlord over the central regions of undead was to blackmail and bribe every nearby lord and baron. He would sent a messenger followed by a mysterious storm, and his intentions were made very clear by these messengers. "outlaw the races of draconic descent and wage war on their kin, or be destroyed yourselves." Short and sweet. Now most nobles and lords had never even met and dragonborn or Kobold, but to be given and order by someone they've never met usually doesn't sit well with most nobles. Most lords, at first, laughed at this strange messenger and had him kicked from their warm halls, but once he left their land, a powerful and awesome downpour of black rain would begin assaulting the lands of the offenders, killing their harvests and giving the inhabitants nothing to drink, and the kingdom would begin to slowly starve. While the kingdom lay in ruins and dying, a faint sound of music could be heard from the heavens, as if serenading the slow demise of his neighbors. None who have heard this song have lived to tell of its beauty.   Once a kingdom was covered in this toxic coating, Stones cackling with bright purple necrotic energy would rain down upon the homes of those residing within the lords domain. Kingdoms were felled in days, and impenetrable fortresses were now not but mounds of battered stone, and blood. Several kingdoms were wiped from the face of Tilea this way, and this first year of these acts of horror became known as the great hollowing, as he carved out a vast kingdom for himself. Most lords and nobles know to stay far away from the undead domain, but none have ever actually met the Dreadlord, or even know of his existence.

Raising the Dead Armies

Naturally these thousands of corpses littered across the undead domain were slowly filtered into the ranks of Olthazhars new hammer with which he would enforce his will upon the world.

"Olthazahr is a tall, undead, and likes long walks on the bea...heading people, he likes beheading people. Look, he likes music, and his privacy. Idk too much about the guy myself, But i bet if you head out to the Brillowed back mountains...youll find some answers, and quick death!" --unkown plot relevant halfling in a random tavern of no importance because it doesnt matter ill just use the same tavern every single time.
