Veera

Lady Veera Imergale Hunic (a.k.a. 'Veer')

The door swung open. Her red hair shining in the hallway as she sprinted to me, hugging and embracing me until I was lost for breath. "Ehsaan!" She cried. Her warm body mingled with mine as we laughed together. She let go and walked back to the cell door, locking it up again though this time from the inside. "Are you alright? They haven't treated you, badly have they?" She asks as she places her hands on me, checking for anything different since last week. "I'm okay now." - A conversation between Ehsaan and Veera in 'One letter short of danger.'

Physical Description

Identifying Characteristics

Two ear piercings on each ear.
Small brown mole on the back of the left shoulder.
Birth mark is shown on the right side of the lower waist.

Physical quirks

Veera like many Lamentari is right-handed, left handedness in Lamentari culture is sadly still very much a taboo and is hardly used at all.

Apparel & Accessories

Veera has a keen fashion sense only wearing the most expensive dresses she can find. Her mother adamantly proposes a different dress per new event. Overall many of her clothes include fairly warm colours such as shades of reds and pinks.

Mental characteristics

Sexuality

Her family and the people at large have often thought Veera to be very emotionless when with other males her age, she did not physically express her feelings towards them even if they had done to her. Therefore the population question her sexuality and this rumour had been heightened by the time she applied for a general nursing occupation, a job which required to treat both men and women. This is why her parents had so quickly accepted Giovanni as he had been the first that Veera had shown her love openly for. This was however short lived as she began the close friendship with Ehsaan and Asheerah's grudge towards her meant the rumours were reignited, this time between this relationship.
For Veera, she herself does not in fact know and nor does she want to know. For her, the feeling of love cannot be controlled.

Education

Veera had been home schooled by her father for most of her primary education and secondary education. Though to pursue her career goals she opted for an apprenticeship under the hands of Dwyn a Lamentari nurse who is part of a famous institute training up and coming young Lamentari girls aiming to be future health care professionals.

Employment

Veera graduated with flying colours and became a certified nurse at Lugus Slaint a famous nursing institution which had paved the way for career as she later went on to join Lugus not as a student but as a junior nurse where she is still working to this day.
As well as working with Lugus, she has also volunteered to work for the less wealthy province of Rostam, a little further east of Raad where she currently resides. She delivers clean medical treatment for the less able amazingly for free.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Veera is stock full of achievements both in academics and in the creative. Here are just a couple of the competitions and contests she has currently won.
  • 1st at the National junior Lamentari ball dancing competition

  • 2nd at Elein ( a regional painting competition)

  • 1st at the junior Aragon racing competition, a competition which injured her leg during training.

  • Though these are wonderful achievements her biggest accomplishment would be during the rebellion, where she had treated more than 50 injured men and women upon the battle field, no one as young as her has been able to achieve this.

    Failures & Embarrassments

Though Veera is truly gifted she does have a sizeable amount of failures also.
Failures mostly include in sports or other games. Veera often had witness other children play a multitude of games from the view of her courtyard as a teenager. One strange occasion the children had once invited her to play and after a few minutes of refusing she soon accepted but only to be laughed at by a dozen unfamiliar faces. Veera could not hit the ball without tripping over. She thought never to play a single sport besides Aragon racing again!
Veera also feels a little embarrassed when her friends (the trio) talk about things that she has not a clue about. Sometimes she feels that she had very shielded life and so feels very left out. Talking about things like money and housing issues have never come across her mind before she had met the them.

    Mental Trauma

Veera always had a hard time grasping at the mistreatment of ordinary folk in Azaad. The sight of her own mother and father doing these actions have had a negative affect on their relationships with her parents and her culture. The feeling of disillusionment had made Veera become quite isolated from her people very quickly as she proclaimed her thoughts to her peers. The disappearance of her early childhood friend also left deep scars though she has never told anyone about this, much to the detriment of her own well-being.

    Intellectual Characteristics

Veera has a natural love for music and dance, she excels in both since a very young age.
Her parents drilled their mathematical skills onto their child, as a Hunic it is very important that an acceptable level of mathematics is taught in every household.
But her shielded life however meant that she is slightly too naive in certain circumstances and thus can lead to poor logical decisions in the real world.

    Morality & Philosophy

Her ethics greatly differ from the general Lamentari population but also from the general Azaadi population. In her view everyone should be entitled to live their life free from hardship and those who have more should help the less able, much like the ideas of socialism in our world. For her, life is precious and so humans should live in harmony with one another, to take care of each other and the home they reside in. Veera's ideal world would include the mass population live in prosperity and tolerance no matter who they may be. The world may still be unjust but Veera still lives in hope and optimism.

    Taboos

Veera is tolerant towards most issues though she does have a couple of unsettling thoughts. One being the use of vulgar language and it is still very much a social taboo in Lamentari culture.
Cross dressing is another taboo Veera is unsettled by, when she saw Ehsaan for the second time, one of the first words she said mentioned her clothes and the lack of femininity.

    Personality Characteristics

    Motivation

Veera dreams of a liberal and prosperious Tierterrum which is free from caste and class systems and a world which is rooted in tolerance and respect for differences. Veera will do anything and everything to act on this very dream.

    Savvies & Ineptitudes

Most Hunics are absolutely horrible at creativity, they tend to excel at crunching numbers and the sciences. Veera however in this way is different, she prides herself as a patron for the visual arts. She has a keen eye for detail and could spot a needle in a haystack if she most desired to. Her world is painted with an amazingly vast spectrum of colours and is often presented in the form of prose or artwork.   Though Veera is a talented young lady, she falls short on game playing, whether it be board games or sports, she has not really taken a fancy to it, nor was she ever very good at it.

    Likes & Dislikes

Likes: Veera has a soft spot for the elderly, sometimes she treats them as far to young for their age, almost like children, though she knows some elderly are completely capable of looking after themselves.
Music and Dance have always had a special place in Veera's heart, her first steps emerged as she struggled off the pram and stumbled her way into the feet of a street guitarist. Not long after this incident her mother assumed she had been ready for her first ball, in which she had her first taste in dance but by all means she was not ready for this and her first dance soon came tumbling after her. She was then instructed by her father a dance tutor, a pleasant one at that. And thus she has loved dance ever since.
Dislikes: Fortunately Veera's dance tutor had been not condescending nor patronising. Veera hates bossy attitudes in people since she is a fast learner so finds it very insulting and hates being told what to do.
Some may find this strange and others may find this bizarrely weird but Veera cannot stand the taste of meat, the rubbery texture unfortunately has put her off.

    Virtues & Personality perks

Veera has a clear and open view on the world at large, she will not prejudge nor scour in secret. Her words are her thoughts for better or for worse, she is brutally honest.
The Lamentari and the Hunics especially are known for their capitalist way of thinking, thinking for themselves and only themselves to climb further on their social ladder. Veera is not like this and never was like this at all, she has always encouraged and supported her peers just as much as herself no matter whom they may be. She is a very independent thinker and in this way she has stood out from the rest of the Lamentari community.

    Vices & Personality flaws

Although Veera's high moral standpoint can be viewed as a positive in this world, some may argue it is too high, she has also been known to be angered by negative actions led by ordinary jokes or be disgusted by swearing. Some may feel the anger as petty.

    Personality Quirks

Veera is always seen with an item in her gasp, let it be a basket, her trusty first aid kit or a piece of fruit, she is never left empty handed.
Never in loss of a new dress, Veera has an unusually high amount of clothing.

    Hygiene

Veera loves to keep and maintain herself and everything that she owns in a spotlessly clean fashion. She will not and cannot stand a wrinkle in the sheets or a stray piece of cloth on ones bed. Everything has to go into its neat and rightful place, though she herself does not mind getting her hands dirty in the garden ( as long as there is a water tap near by of course).

    Social

    Contacts & Relations

Relation with Mother (Valerie): Veera has an on and off sort of relationship with her mother, she respects her and her work ethic and her drive to become a successful woman but she does not agree in her process of doing this. Due to her work ethic, her mother has not been around often, instead she is far too busy with council meetings. Veera also despises her sulky attitude towards the lower castes and classes of society, she is in many ways, not at all like her mother.
Relation to Father (Vulcan): Veera has always loved her father. Unlike her mother, her father was around during her childhood due to working from home. She loves the fact that he had always paid special attention to her and a decision would not be made without the opinion of hers. Sadly the relation with her father became rocky as she involved herself more and more with the friendship of the Trio.
Relation with Giovanni: Veera watched beside the Shirin Leila windows, curious and eager to meet the newcomers. It wasn't until she met Giovanni during the Sirjaan festival that she began to develop feelings for him, though now she deeply regrets this after befriending Ehsaan. Despite this, Veera and Giovanni remain close friends. She loves Giovanni's sensitivity, empathy and passion for ordinary things and considers him great company when one needs consoling.
Relation with Ehsaan: Veera initially thought Ehsaan to lack respect whilst speaking to her during Giovanni illness. As time went by she now perceives Ehsaan as now a gentle soul, sadly too often reminding her about her old childhood friend. Veera knew she had pulled apart her two friends, Giovanni and Ehsaan and yet she allowed herself to become oblivious to it. Remembering about it now only embarrasses her, knowing she is partly to blame for the disappearance of the sun and earth elements. She still finds it shocking that the two forgave her, and to this day, Ehsaan has remained her closest female friend, hoping they will reunite one day in the near future.
Relation with Ezra: Veera found it a little awkward talking to Ezra, she would only ever have indirect conversations, talking to Giovanni or Ehsaan instead. Ezra has always been an interesting character to her and was overjoyed when the two were paired to bake pastries for Giovanni and Ehsaan. She always finds a need to laugh at his funny behaviours and jokes, though felt the need to punch him if he ever uttered a swear. Veera became heartbroken by the end of the rebellion and has not yet gotten over it, perhaps she never will. For her, Ezra was her hidden joy.
Relation to Asheerah: Veera loves the Shirin Leila but she had always thought Asheerah to be too conformist for her liking. This perpetuated during the mistreatment of Ehsaan which heavily angered Veera though she was not at all surprised since Asheerah had treated her own child unjustly. Veera was horrified as she saw Asheerah letting go of her own child. Veera had never seen such injustice between kin until that day and also believes that her granddaughter deserves much better. She felt a sigh of relief to finally have the courage to express her real feelings towards her during the ball.

    Family Ties

Family ties include the extended Hunic tribe roughly accounting to 16 Lamentari currently residing in Azaad and a further 153,000 residing in the Hunic province in the valley of Lament.

    Religious Views

Veera is quite indecisive about her religious views and religion in general. Her family have raised her in a strict Lamentari fashion. Growing up Veera would attend daily prayers in the local Lamentari temples, celebrating festivals that are deemed holy and abiding strictly to Lamentari law. In her teen years however, Veera and the Hunic family migrated to the Raad province in Azaad. There she discovered strange people with strange customs who were treated differently despite being native to their own homeland, even witnessing a horrible mistreatment and the passing of her one dear friend. She vowed she will not be like them. Veera had grappled with the hierarchical system in the Lamentari tradition ever since then and became even disheartened witnessing her own family enforcing these same rules.

    Social Aptitude

As an extrovert, her excitement bubbles when meeting new people and thoroughly is at peace in whom she finds good company. Veera is an excellent at conversation starters and loves to keep the chat alive when her friends are quite quiet, something which is very much appreciated by Ehsaan and Ezra especially. Veera may seem to come across as a show-offy kind of character to the people who have never met her personally though her friends would love to disagree. Veera stands out from her family and the Lamentari community as a whole as she holds everyone, rich or poor, Lamentari or not in an equal esteem and is therefore loved and trusted across the Azaadi community .

    Mannerisms

She has gotten into some trouble by the Lamentari upper class women with her blunt speech and she has a habit of speaking without thinking. Though she will definitely speak up in causes she wholeheartedly believes in and in defence of people deemed close to her.

    Hobbies & Pets

Veera's hobbies include gardening, recreational hunting and baking.
Her pet includes a family dog named Keenan in the Hunic family estate in Raad,Azaad. Veera enjoys sneaking into the kitchens to feed him left over meat.

    Speech

Her voice is warm and pleasing to the ear, very soft and womanly. The Hunic family reared their child in the most sophisticated manner possible. She does not use swears nor does she use slang, both of which spark a lump of anxiety in her stomach. Her vocabulary is vast especially when speaking to her older but this however degrades as age decreases. Her accent is shared across many Lamentari, the accent of the upper class but in her case, with a millennial flare.

    Wealth & Financial state

Though lucky enough to be born with abundant wealth, Veera is fairly self sufficient due to her most notable occupation of being a household nurse. She has an average salary of precisely 128,000C (Chazri) annualy, equivilent to almost £30,000 in our own world! Interestingly enough her wealth was not at all unusual amongst Lamentari women her age and class and her wealth will only ever increase due to her right to inherit the Hunic estates scattered across the east and west of Upper Tierterrum.
