Physical & Chemical Properties

WARNING: The feathers are extremely flamable. Fire from the breath of the Tairnar can result in 3rd - 4th degree burns. If one is exposed to fire one is urged to rush to the nearest hospital immediately. The fire will eat away at your clothes and dig into your flesh. The normal human would not be able to handle the pain, the only way to heal this in anyway is to shower yourself in salty water. Giovanni was said to have little side effects from the Tairnar feathers because of his gifts as a bearer, so please for the normal folk out there, handle this with care.

Compounds

Tairnar feathers are made up of the same compounds as hair, a protein called keratin. Though Tairnar feathers have a slightly different compound arrangement than birds in our world. This is to make the feathers flamable, capable of scaring any predators or hunters away.

Geology & Geography

Tairnar feathers are found only in the south east region of Azaad in thick and dense forests.

Origin & Source

To obtain Tairnar feathers one must first hunt a Tairnar bird. This is a ridiculous task, however one or two arrows at a distance is said to get the job done. To get close to a Tairnar, you will have to walk a weeks worth into the forest depths. Normally, only Lamentari are known to hunt for feathers though as they have resources to spare on these luxouries.

Life & Expiration

If the feathers are exposed to fire they almost instantly disintegrate, other than this Tairnar feathers rot within a few thousand years. The exact amount of years is not really known due to the technology and how rare the Tairnar bird is.

History & Usage

Discovery

The religous scriptures belonging to the Lamentari had inspired the expanision of their land and thirst for progression. They had first disovered the feathers whilst driving through the south east of Azaad in the battle of Akaash. The Azaadi had in fact lived in relative peace along with its native creatures but they quickly underwent occupation and adopted the hunting habits of their occupier.

Everyday use

Tairnar feathers are considered as a luxurious item. The Lamentari use the feathers for head dress. A women in Hunic for example may wear feathers on her wreath when attending a wedding or banquet. Another use for the feathers, although only a few people are known to have a capable hand to do this would be long gowns. The Tairnar feather would be washed and woven into a fine thread. A well abled seamstress then would sew a light ball gown. It is said to have a shimmering affect when danced in candle light.
A Lamentari man on the other hand may use the feathers as embelms or charms. Lamentari soldiers are said to join their feathers onto a ring or necklace. The ring would then be put into their pockets or necks.

Cultural Significance and Usage

Tairnar feathers are said to be extremely rare. Hunting down a Tairnar would suggest that you are physically and financially well to do. Tairnar feathers are also mentioned in the religous scriptures and known to expel away evil omens.

Environmental Impact

A tairnar sheds its feathers as soon as it reaches middle age. Since the feathers are not able to disintegrate, the feathers are left in the wild and may be hazardess for other smaller mammals.

Reusability & Recycling

A tairnar feather, if damaged may be used as pillow stuffing.

Distribution

Trade & Market

Tairnar feathers cannot be obtained in the market. It is either hunted by funding from the aristocrisy or obtained by the Lamentari warriors as they scout the Azaadi outskirts.

Storage

Tairnar feathers must be kept in a cold room, preferably away from any candles or children.
