The Shinobi Syndicate
The Shinobi Syndicate was formed during the Mythic Age in 1463BAE by Koga the Living Shadow. It began as a movement of desperate peasants who were being oppressed by the tyrant kings of The Far West. The Kings levied extreme taxes on the lower class and routinely murdered them for sport and raped their women. The peasants had no means of defending themselves against the superiorly trained and equipped samurai forces of the Kings so any rebellion was swiftly crushed. One such oppressed peasant named Koga had his wife brutally raped and murdered by a local retainer of the King of the Shojo kingdom. He pleaded to the Kami to grant him vengeance for his lost love and that night was given visions of a man running on walls and jumping across buildings, his silhouette barely visible in the darkness of the night. When he awoke he knew what needed to be done and went to The Forest of Spirits to train his body so that it could move as the man in his dream moved. He spent 6 years in the forest and when he finally returned to his village he was unrecognizable by his close friends and family. He waited for the dead of night and slipped past the retainer's guards into his Manor. He drew his dagger and slit the throat of the sleeping man without making a sound. He then began to train the people of his village in this new art stealth and acrobatics and the first group of ninja were created. They got into many skirmishes with The Kingdom of Shojo's samurai and eventually killed the Tyrant King who reigned from Kyonshi Castle. The Shinobi claimed the castle for the people of Shojo and continued to work in the shadows against the will of tyrants for the next thousand years.
In 17AAE the leader of the Syndicate at the time, Hanzo, was on a mission to assassinate a tyrant that had just come into power and declared himself Emperor of the Far West. He waited for Savar in his bed chamber late one night and ambushed him. Savar fended off the shinobi with his legendary katana: Soulrender, which he carried at all times. Instead of calling for the guards he challenged the shinobi to a fair duel on the edge of the Amabei Lake. The shinobi was surprised at the honor of the man and his dedication to a fair fight and did duel him on the lake's edge. As their battle waged Savar was impressed at the nimble shinobi who could run along the water and Hanzo was impressed at the sheer power and resolve of the ruler which he thought would've been weak like the tyrant kings and other petty lords. Hanzo was bested but Savar spared his life saying that it was dishonorable to kill a man who had given him such a enjoyable fight and he could tell that Hanzo was an honorable and good man. Hanzo no longer saw a tyrant that he had been sent to kill, he saw an Emperor and someone who he could follow and trust with the well-being of the people which has always been the goal of the Shinobi Syndicate. The two became friends and this was the beginning of the Syndicate's inclusion in the Savarian Empire. They grew in power as the Empire grew and now in the current days their agents are deployed around the world to fight for Savaria on the secret battlefields of covert operations that they have been fighting in for centuries.
