Kitchweth (K-itch-WITH)

The weapon that killed Chog

Mechanics & Inner Workings

No one knows how it works.   Secret Truth: the weapon itself is not the most important aspect of Kitchweth, but rather its ability to split a soul from a body. To do this, the weapon was imbued with the souls of many Sineaters . The squire is the inventor who "spoke to Gao" to create the sacred stones that trapped Chog's soul, so the squire already had experience in soul magic. One of the real reasons why there are so few sineaters left is that they were hunted down and forged into this weapon to kill Chog.

History

"Artists have more luck of understanding Kitchweth than Archeologists." --Retired Explorer Max Jamison
When the champion faced Chog to kill the god of chaos, he wielded a weapon that could kill a god. No other weapon had been made as powerful before or since. However, what that weapon was has been lost to time as well as how the Champion used it to kill Chog. Some have thought it might be a cleaver or sword of some sort. Others have thought it was not an object but a person.   When the Champion killed Chog, the Champion was the first to die from the fallout. It is unclear how exactly he managed to do it though his squire was sent away outside of the fall out zone. That's the only reason even the name has survived to the modern day.

Significance

"If only we could get our hands on that holy relic, Kitchweth, the world would once again tremble before our righteous might." -- Speaker of the Disciples of Gao
Since it is the weapon that killed Chog and lead to the fallout, the significance cannot be understated. There have been many failed expeditions to try and find Kitchweth or learn more about it. The legend draws the curious from the scientific, religious, military, and wealthy collector circles to try and find out more. As a god-killer level weapon, there are several factions that would like to get there hands on this lost technology.

I really liked your article, you summarized the description and history of the weapon well, and I also liked the way you divided the text.
