Sarkan

A Sarkan's has as many places in this world as there are cultures. Born from families seemingly at random of all races, in all nations, a Sarkan can be honored in one place and reviled in another. As individuals, they are just as varied.

PART MAN, PART ANIMAL

The defining trait of a Sarkan is that each of them is an anthropomorphic of some sort. A man with a bull's head, or a woman who looks like a turtle - shell and all. Perhaps a woman with a fox's tail, or a man with gills and fins. They are as varied as wildlife itself.

A CURSE OR A BLESSING

Many cultures across the world have varied legends about how the Sarkan came to be. Some say they are born of a curse by the Fae spirits to punish the moral races for the destruction that civilization wreaks across Threa. Others that they are births blessed by the Empyreal Elarin, destined to lead a life of greatness. The fact is nobody knows the truth of their origins. A Sarkan can be born of any race, to any parent, with no warning. A mother can bear 2 human children, a Sarkan, and another human for example.

TOGETHER OR APART

Some Sarkan remain members of the community to which they were born - whether ostracized or revered. Others seek out more of their own kind and form small communities of their own, though they seldom last long. Sarkan's children have seemingly the same chance to be born Sarkan as any other race. Two Sarkan will produce a half-elf child, if the Mother's parents were elves and the Father's parents were human. Thus, even communites that start as Sarkan quickly become populated with the other mortal races.

SARKAN NAMES

Sarkan are generally given names of the culture they are born within.

SARKAN TRAITS

Few Sarkan share identical traits. Decide what form you wish your Sarkan to take and then work with the GM to determine the racial traits. You can find inspiration in the Aarakockra, Lizardfolk, Centaur, Tabaxi, Tortle, Triton, Yuan-Ti, and Minotaur races from 5e sources.

After meeting Harith I don't think I can use the phrase "wolfish grin" with the same meaning ever again.
