Fetched | Thicket of Thorns

Fetched

The fetched are originally human children kidnapped by Fey and replaced with a Changeling. The child is taken to Fairie where they are kept as pets. The fey then feed on the memories of these children, drinking up their emotions. Happy memories taste the best, but even sadness can be delicious.   When the children grow up and are less interesting, they are considered little more than cattle. As such, they are bred in order to gain new children with memories to leech. They jailers might even enjoy playing house with their captives in a way, forcing them to form families and pretend to have a normal life. At least, in so far the very alien minds of the fey can understand what a normal life means. However, this is often the healthiest part of any fetched's life. They are able to relax and pretend to work or do chores the fey think humans do, but at least their mind isn't molested on a daily basis.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Besides being used for their memories, fetched are sometimes used to amuse the fey in other ways. Many of them eventually die from a lethal game thought up by one of their masters. But it also happens that no one wants to bother with a fetched for some reason and they are pushed out into the Thicket of Thorns to fend for themselves best they can. This isn't always a preferable fate.

The bodies of the fetched become more pallid. Sometimes mysterious patterns form on their skin where the fey often touch them while stealing memories. Other than that, they retain their human appearance.
