Heliod

God of the Sun, Light, Life and Justice

King of the Gods

As the first god born in the Pantheon, Heliod is the ruler of Nyx, relam of the Gods. While the other gods have domains and areas of influence of their own, they often listen to Heliod and will enact his will through their divine domain.

Overview

As one of the first five gods born on Theros, Heliod is a major god. Heliod is the Rising Sun. He is the giver of life, and distributor of divine justice. Theros culture involves saying a short prayer to Heliod upon waking, moving from East to West, following the path of the Sun. This is done to honor the King of the Gods as he makes his daily voyage across the sky in his radiant chariot, delivering life energy on the mortal plane and warding off the forces of darkness. Able to stike down anyone who threatens his position with his sun-piercing spear, Khrusor, from Nyx up above, even in the depths of the Underworld. According to myth, Heliod is only active for half the day beacuse while powerful, even he has his limits and must rest each night after protecting the mortal plane. It is during this night while he rests dark forces are most active, but Heliod does not leave his worshippers completly unguarded. It is said that the moon is still Heliod, keeping a watchful eye over the mortal plane while regaining energy to make his daily voyage in the morning.

Depection

As a divine being, Heliod's true form can not be accuratly described by mortals. The closest understanding to the true form of the Gods is cyclonic storms of cosmic and divine energies. Like the other members of the Pantheon, Heliod often appears in a humaniod form when communing with his mortal worshippers for easier understanding. Heliod often takes the form of a sun-bronzed human male in their forties wearing a golden tunic. A strong chin and short beard along with a broad chest makes him appear as a fit altlete while still having a aura of nobility. He has gloosy black hair with a laural crown made of solid gold, and he appears to radiate light. It is this form that the sun god is depicted in various artworks.
