DagDae

(a.k.a. DagDae, The Storm-Weary)

Many millennia ago, on the western coast of what is now the Great Barrier Desert, there sat a lonely mountain.
Atop this mountains highest perch rested a boulder that bore the visage of a kindly old tortoise.
The local Krigorne tribes respected this boulder, it had weathered storm after storm and watched over the land below without falling.

They named him DagDae, The Storm-Weary.

They worshipped him, decorating him in jewels and flowers, beseeching DagDae to continue watching over the lands below. DagDae's vigil continued, until one day an ill-tempered young warrior toppled DagDae from his mountain perch in a misguided show of strength.
His devotees wept and wailed as he crashed down the mountainside, but DagDae did not shatter as he crashed into the earth below. Instead he rolled, he rolled and did not stopped until he had crossed the Great Barrier Desert.

When DagDae reached the eastern coast he came to a standstill.
He began a new vigil. He watched the ocean, contemplating the waves as mortals came and went.
Even the young man who had toppled DagDae from his mountain home, though now old and grizzled, came to beg forgiveness.
Centuries of contemplation filtered by, gazing out over shifting waters, but DagDae had decided.
Decided to go home.

He sprouted legs with which to walk, Hands which to to touch and a head so that he could better speak of natures gifts. With each new step nature swelled to meet him. Plants grew, animals thrived. A verdant road left in his wake.
Once more people worshipped DagDae, trailing him in his journey. However, not all who followed DagDae's road had good intentions.

Beset by man and monster alike, though none could penetrate DagDae's earthen shell, the assaults left him weary.
