If the origins of Somnius are shrouded in mystery, then Yxterre's identity is a mystery wrapped in a terrifying enigma. It is said that not even the gods know where Yxterre came from, or are too scared to discuss it.

The most popular theory is that the Yxterre was born of a terrifying nightmare that grew within the dreams of Somnius himself, until the horror could be contained no longer, and ripped its way out of the Father of Dreams.
