Mortal Life

Jebediah was born in a small community in the eastern range of Nyvunne, Algida, near Bristlefrost. Their village was one of few areas where the local mammoth herds roam freely, and mingle with a few lucky citizens. Growing up, Jebedian would sneak away from his duties to watch the plays that went on there, and even snuck into a few acting roles before getting caught by his disapproving parents. He was told he was far too large, and far too strong to be wasting his time with such frivolities: his destiny was to be a warrior.

But Jebediah refused to be controlled, and set his gaze upon a challenge no other had bested: the Ocean's Tusk, a great spire always visible from the shores of Bristlefrost even on the foggiest of days. Legends say it is the tusk of Melechesh, the mammoth lord who defends the sea from the sky.

On a cold autumn morning he swam across the bay, and began a several day climb up the Tusk. Upon finishing his gruelling task and reaching the summit, he collapsed. He awoke, garbed in new arms and armor, to the touch if lips on his forehead. When he returned to his home, he found he had dominion over the lesser mammoths, and physically overcame the herd's alpha and bonded with the mammoth's child, who Jebediah named Ezekiel. Jebediah was the first to mount a mammoth in centuries.

Clad in the gear Jebediah had found, they set out seeking adventure (this time with Jebediah's parents' blessing). In his travels, Jebediah took up with the Order of the Sword, where he received much of his martial training. He changed his path on hearing of the Exalted: he wanted to test himself against the best of the best, and The Exalted only fought the best. Having recently parted with Alexus, the Exalted were all too happy to welcome another warrior to their side, and they set out to find and defeat evil.

In return for his service to the realm, Jebediah was granted a barony that had previously belonged to a corrupt judge. After defeating the Demon Queen, Jebediah returned to his barony to find it had been left fallow for over two years after the previous baron's arrest. Seeking out Alexus, Amaya, and Calista for financial advice, The Great Warrior settled into a life of farming for a time. He personally plowed the fields (with help from Ezekiel), getting dirty alongside the farmers. At his request, Tamsin Toombs used her nature magic to coax the barony's plants into growth, and called upon rain for the farmers.

Jebediah used his own wealth to hire contractors to repair the roads of his barony, update sanitation, repair houses, and build a temple to him on his lands. In time, his barony became one of the most successful in Heigarth, and pilgrims traveling to worship at his temple brought money to the country. Jebediah set his lands as an embassy, allowing nobles of Heigarth, the Hold, and Alethea to stay there.

While the success and comfort of farmers on his land is notable, the Ivory Tusk Barony is most memorable for being the training grounds for a small army of holy warriors. Jebediah taught the platoons himself, and eventually invited other veterans of the War of Blood to his realm as instructors. The nobility of Heigarth (including the queen herself) became nervous about Jebediah's private militia, a powerful force loyal only to him. Jebediah's compromise to the crown was that he and his soldiers would help to defend the country, but would never be used to attack (or be used as leverage against another country). He further offered that the crown could send their own soldiers to his lands for advanced training, free of charge.

Now, his churches exist across Denuterra, Algida, and Erema, and serve as both sites of worship and military outposts. His holy book, equal parts bible and training manual, are the basis of training for his crusaders (as well as for the military forces of other countries).
