How to Play

General

Setting

Fadren is the setting of this campaign. Approximately 3000yrs ago, a fog fell upon the world, causing humanity to retreat to the protection of guarded cities. In the process, the history of that ancient world was lost. None know what really caused humanity to retreat nor do they know what the world was like before all entered Fadren.   In the year 3232, the fog rose. And now the great unknown world lies before a group of brave adventurers. It was taken from them once before, and, now, it is time for humanity to return.

Mission Types and Difficulties

Players/Adventurers can choose to pursue one of three types of missions: Campaign Quests | Hunts | Surveys. Each one is dependent on the player to pick out a plot hook that they find interesting, and they organize who will join them on the mission.

Hunts

Monster Hunts and Investigations occur in isolation of the main storyline. They fall together in the same category due to their playstyle nature. These hunts are the heart of the west-marches style of gameplay.

Leveling Up

Leveling Up is decided by an EXP/Milestone system. EXP Players take the standard XP leveling up table and multiply it by the number of players. Such that, the entire west marches party levels up at the same time and all sessions increase that beautiful xp number closer to the next level. Milestones In addition to XP values, the head-dm establishes Milestone challenges as a requirement to level up. This is a method of incentiving particular plot points, reveals, or simply adding difficult obstacles for characters to overcome.
