Wood Elf

The Wood Elves are the group of elves that refused to settle down, instead continuing their hunter-gatherer lifestyle in the slowly dwindling forests, untill they can now almost only be found in Pelthor Forest in the north of the Nuru River Valley. They have fought many battles against the bordering city states and nomads who would like to make use of the lumber that could be harvested from the forest, which has lead to great distrust again any visitors to their hunting grounds.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Wood Elves generally stand higher than their human neighbours, averaging 6'5'', stockier than their High Elven cousins they still appear very lithe and nimble. Their faces are very angular, and their ears tend to end in long pointy ends. Some Wood Elves have horns and antlers, but this is not common. Differences between men and women can sometimes be extremely difficult to make out, with both genders having very similar bodies and faces.

Genetics and Reproduction

Wood Elves reproduce sexually, and the woman gestates the child for 20 months before giving birth, this is a arduous process and coupled with the long lifespan of the race means it doesn't happen very often.

Growth Rate & Stages

Wood elves reach sexual maturity at around 40, but aren't considered adults untill they've reached their first century, even so their minds continue to develop their entire lives and after about a millenia tends to present such a strain on the body that this puts a limit on their lifespan, deaths of old age are usually stroke related.

Biological Cycle

Some Wood Elves change hair colour with the seasons, this is extremely rare and tends to indicate that the person will develop sorcerous powers later on in life.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Almost all Wood Elves can be found in Pelthor Forest, although they do occasionally leave they still always feel a tug in their mind to return every so often.

Average Intelligence

Due to their wild lifestyle wood elves tend not to get educated traditionally, but they still live long lives in the wild and tend to be wise and experienced even at a relatively young age.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Like all elves the Wood Elves have highly sensitive hearing and sight, letting them see in the dark and hear things much clearer than most other races
