General Summary
Malanroot Tower
Ringday, the 7th day of Frost, 4078 Hasdraek knocks Grigg out. He hog ties his former Blood Daddy and drags him down the stairs and into the main tower stairs. After a time he hears the sound of the other two Blood Hunter and hides himself in a window alcove. Naltica and Strellick attack, but they are no match for Hasdraek. Naltica runs, while Hasdraek decapitates her son. Soon he catches up to her, ties her and returns her to where Grigg is. Hasdraek interrogates the two. He finds out that Famath BenGuilliam has the boy Ridger Haverstraw gets abducted by the Black Ram and intends to use him in some arcane power ritual related to the Grand Syzygy. He also learns that Grigg murdered his mother. Hasdraek then slays the two in cold blood. Though this was a long time coming, Hasdraek finds that he derived no pleasure in killing them. He exits the tower, crossing the bridge and planting his feet firmly on solid, outdoor ground for the first time in many days. He spends the night in the mountains and the next day, sets off for Gimblestone, feeling lonely and forlorn.
Middleday, the 8th day of Frost, 4078 Hasdraek arrives in Gimblestone in the late afternoon. The townspeople call out his arrival and soon a large crowd is there to meet him. They cheer his name and ask for news, but he is weary and the Mayor, Vonig Kerleroux, shoos everyone away, telling them there will be time for news later. Hasdraek greatfully regains his rooms in the The Whetstone Inn and Tavern, falling into bed.
