Episode L018: The Battle for Gimblestone Pt. 2

General Summary

Hasdraek Deepbrand stands over the body of a slain Illithid, with a Githzerai Monk named Duurth, a Faerie Dragon, named Estival currently polymorphed into a bear, and a Halfling named Drogo Whitherspoon around him. As they survey the scene, the door to the Temple of the Light opens and and nine monstrous Quaggoth emerge, padding slowly through the snow toward the party.
The blizzard has ceased, and the temperature begins to drop as the clouds disperse.
Hasdraek launches a few volleys of Eldritch Blast at the quaggoths before battle is joined.
The fight lasts mere minutes before the beasts lie dead at the heroes' feet. The halfling acquit themselves honourably - none more than Theodard Cotton, who's long career as a soldier chases away the comical madness that he has, of late, descended into. He stands surrounded by the bodies of the three quaggoths, capering with pleasure and blood lust.
Courtney Mugwort is injured the most, but survives the encounter.
During the fight, Hasdraek notices three winged beasts, in the darkening sky above, but does not have the time to conjecture as to their identities, and the portents they bring.
As the battle draws to a close, the party notices a group of thralls slowly making their way toward them from the north.
The doors to the Temple of the Light open again and five more quaggoths emerge, this time accompanied by three illithid.
Hasdraek hears a voice iin his head say, "this gift of Famath BenGuiliam has soured in our mouths. The pleasant aromas of fear and despair give way to the acrid tang confidence and victory. This will not go unpunished, and you will all rue the day you rose against Uhxibriex."
