The Beacon of Eyes

Beacon of Eyes is a small village between Shadowport and the Bloodkeep, it counts less than a century of life and it was built around The Monolith, a stone sculpture 50 feet high, 15 feet wide by 15 feet long, with a square base. On each side of the Monolith there are countless faces sculpted, each bearing a different expression - eyes shut. At the top of the sculpture lies a huge square rock with 1 enormous face at each side. Although the purpose of the original creation has been lost in time, it was only at the beginning of The Darkshed that it was given significance when a group of monks realized that during some nights all eyes opened simultaneously to shed bright light to a great distance. The monks treated the sight as sacred and took it upon themselves to protect it. Thus, the settlement of Beacon of Eyes was founded.    Although Beacon of Eyes has not grown a lot in size today, it has done so in significance. The Monolith has grown into a peaceful sanctuary for those in search of their inner selves, those who want to pray and meditate. It is also the last haven of those traveling to witness criminals’ expulsion from Sorrow Mountains to the South. Most of them stop to pay tribute to whatever protective force is behind The Monolith. But others see beyond that. They believe the pillar is a creation of Rashaam, lord of the Forsaken Islands and well-known arcane magic wielder to spy upon the mainlanders. Others fear that Gods of Undeath are searching for souls in the darkness and that all souls of those in proximity will be collected once the time is right. Whatever the truth, The Monolith is one of the most peculiar monuments in Erevos. Many have tried to decipher it but no one has been successful so far.
