3. No more lies.

Wynnstan rushed back into the cave only to find the lifeless corpse of his father. Centrik stood over him, holding a strange stone in one hand, focused on chanting a strange, alien ritual. As the rest of the group returned to the hideout and tended to their wounds, Centrik finished his spell, handed the stone to Wynnstan and explained that he couldn’t save Anver’s life, but he was able to magically preserve his body. According to him, as long as Anver’s body remained intact, there may have been a way to bring him back from the dead. Centrik gave them directions to an orchish tribe of shamans on the northern part of Erevos, but Wynnstan dismissed his claims and decided to bury his father instead.   Vilras proceeded to search the bodies of the attackers and throw them in the sea. He found a letter that seemed to indicate that the four of them worked for the Merchants Circle of Tyferol and were busy collecting and delivering items. The reason why they attacked the group wasn’t clear.     The party moved to a different cave to discuss their next move. Sefris, still wary of the situation, suggested to split up and find proof to either support or dispute Centrik’s heretical claims, certain that a lack of evidence would finally convince the rest of the group to arrest Centrik and free Hest.   Nox headed to Tyferol to do what he does best: poke around for information.   Wynnstan and Vilras returned to Vaal in order seek more information on the fugitive.   Lastly, Sefris headed back to Shilok to do some research at the library.   Four days later, to her dismay, the evidence the party had put together did not contradict Centrik’s story. Instead, it seemed to verify it.   Nox had found a man who admitted to have worked for Trick, the head of one of the three families in control of the Merchants Circle. According to him, during the Days of Remembrance he would stay on the surface to load crates onto a strange ship.   Wynnstan and Vilras spoke with Vaal and reported to him their failure to capture the fugitive. They told him that they were closing in on him and his accomplices, but their horses had been cut loose and they needed new ones. Wynnstan also lied about the location of the escapee’s latest whereabouts. Vaal had started to get impatient and gave them until after the Day of Remembrance to capture the heretic. He also revealed the only information available to him about “Tear”: the address of his house before he was arrested, which was, indeed, Wynnstan’s.   Lastly, Sefris searched for information about the operations in Horhek’s mines. According to what she found, it seemed like the number of miners and the amount of precious materials excavated from the mines did not match up, almost as if some of it was disappearing… or rather, it was secretly being traded away.   With the Day of Remembrance mere hours away, the group started to strongly consider the possibility of leaving the island with Centrik and seeing the outside world with their own eyes.
