Tekederian Culture

The Tekederian People once ruled the world, they lived in the most advanced nation, with a vibrant and rich culture in a nation that dominated the world. Now however, the Tekederian People are rarely if ever found beyond the borders of their homeland, preferring to maintain their state of isolation and self-centered living over the rest of the world.

Tekederian History

Origins

It is said Long ago that the Titan Primus crafted the world, he would dig rivers and canyons, would craft high mountains and rocky shores, he would plant seeds for great forests, would wrangle the sun and moon, create the clouds and seas, color the world and lay vast humps of clay filled with special seeds. Primus could not work forever though, and after thousands of years of work, Primus would wander out into the sea, and take his final rest.
After the passing of Primus, the Gods would come into being, and the oldest and most powerful of the gods would take the seed filled clay and crafting it into beings alike them and Primus in image and would breathe life into the seeds. Thus, were born the first members of Mankind, the first humans, and among them were the gods favored creation, the Tekederians. It is here that the Tekederians claim their origin, self-centered since the beginning.
After the Birth of Mankind, it was the Tekederians that the gods took an interest in, and took to bed, literally and metaphorically. They would interfere with their lives constantly, guide them from afar and close, and would be pleased with the fanatical and universal worship by the Tekederians of them, making them truly worshipped gods.

The Squabble and Golden Age

Being an inherently Prideful, Militant and self-centered people, a time known as the Squabble was, unlike the name implies, was a bloody extensive period in Tekederian History where they would forge their early nations, kingdoms and republics with military might, waging war and cutting each other apart in bloody campaigns. When they weren't fighting each other, the Tekederians often fended off raids by Rhiaraq tribes in the north, skirmished with the Gallians along the northwestern edge of the Tekederian domains and faced sea raids by the Bir along the western shores.
These constant conflicts with outsiders have fostered a long-term disdain for non Tekederians, with the many successive states of Tekederia seeing themselves as the pinnacle of civilization and outsiders as unwashed barbarians in need of civilizing and controlling. This xenophobic mindset has survived to the modern day, with a great loathing and hatred for those barbarians who doomed the greatness of the Tekederian Civilization.
The Squabble would only end after the unification of Kingdom of Ventia and Republic of Canidurum, and the First Tekederian Empire would be born and a golden age for Tekederian Civilization would begin. This Golden Age would last for centuries, only ending during the Great War of the First Disunification, which would forever end the Dominance of Tekederia over the Known World.
The Golden Age would forever leave behind a united Tekederian Langauge, which not only persists to this day but even has left its effect upon the former lands of the empire beyond the Tekederian Homeland. The Tekederian Religion would even survive beyond the borders of the Tekederian People, being widely worshipped by the Gallians of the Forzorian Empire, and the symbols of their gods being used across the known world for one purpose or another.

Modern Tekederian Culture

Despite all that has happened to them, Tekederian culture stubbornly refuses to change, refusing the truth of their decline and lack of superiority over the rest of the known world, they still ignorantly believe they are better, even when every fact shows the opposite.

Ancient Classes

Modern Tekederia is, to this day, divided not by the traditional classes of a modern society, but the ancient classes of the Old empire and her successor states, they are as follows:
Vetus Sanguis: Tekederian for Old Blood, those of the Vetus Sanguis are those who trace their paternal ancestry all the way back to the old great families of the Empire and beyond, they remain prestigious with their ancient family names, even if many have fallen to poverty and irrelevant.
Aurum Sanguinis: Tekederian for Gold Blood, those of the Aurum Sanguinis trace their paternal ancestry all the way to the merchant guilds and houses of the Republic of Canidurum, these families themselves actually managed to retain some form of wealth and property, though they cannot rival the economic upper class of Tekederia.
Ferreus Sanguis: Tekederian for Iron Blood, those of the Ferreus Sanguis trace their paternal ancestry all the way to the old warrior orders and martial societies that dotted Tekederia before the unification of the First Empire, due to their prevalence and size before the unification, a large chunk of Tekederian society can trace their paternal family to those first of the Ferreus Sanguis.
Pietas Sanguinis: Tekederian for Godly Blood, those of the Pietas Sanguinis trace their paternal ancestry to the great priests of the time of the Empire, who in turn claim direct decent of the legendary mortal children of the Tekederian Gods. The Pietas Sanguinis managed to retain their place in Tekederian society, their blood being protected, and they confined to the role of serving as priests dedicated to their godly ancestor.
Terrenis Sanguis: Tekederian for Earthly Blood, those of the Terrenis Sanguis trace their paternal ancestry to just about everyone else in Tekederian Society. Earthly blood simply meaning to them, everything not important, and often being used as an insulting slur to call one of none Terrenis Sanguis ancestry a Terrenis Sanguis.

Tekederian Cuisine and Eating Habits

The Tekederian has always been complex and extravagant, they eat a minimal of 5 meals a day, more or less depending on certain holidays and times of great celebration. They never eat anything short of a great feast, with even the standard rations of their men being far better than what most people can ever hope to eat in all their life. This is not even covering the role food plays in holy days, festivals dedicated to the gods and the food sacrifices given to the gods upon such days.
There is no true typical diet, all sorts of food can be found in Tekederia, no two men eat alike as anything, and everything is enjoyed to an excess. One man may eat a 5-course meal of meats exotic and known to him, while another will eat a 3-course meal of fruits and vegetables from across the known world. The Sheer diversity in Tekederia and pure excess in their meals is a clear indicator of their own self-worth and jealous need to show off their power and superior nation and food to the world.

Naming Tradition

Much like their food, the Naming traditions of the Tekederians are complex and meant to show off their superiority to the rest of the Known World, with many names having upward of two dozen separate names rolled into one. A Typical name sounds something like Julius Aelius Aetius Celus Festus Lupus Martinus Quintillus, long, complex, overly pompous and filled to the brim with the insufferable pride of the Tekederian People.

Gender Ideals

Gender Ideals are incredibly strict and conservative among the Tekederians. Mothers are keepers of the Homes, raisers of the Children, and nothing else. Women are forbidden from most fields of work, cannot participate in politics, are now allowed to serve in the military, and in many cases can't even divorce their husbands outside of very strict and well-defined circumstances.
This Means men also dominate Courtship, arranged marriage are commonplace, premartial sex and sex with someone not your partner is extremely frowned upon, Marriage is a holy union overseen by whatever the favored god of the husband is, with that gods temple officiating and overseeing the union.
