The World
The World is a place to set high fantasy adventures but it's not just any world. It has a mix of familiar and unique characteristics:
- No pureblooded humans (at least no living ones)
- Things tend to spontaneously combust
- There are Rodents of Unusual Size
- The physical and spiritual worlds interface, like every day is Dia De Los Muertos
- There be dolphins, wise dolphins
- There is a massive underground world
- All recorded history is inaccurate, and those in power like it that way
- Rocks may explode unprovoked
- There be flaming barrels of ale
The four northern kingdoms are ruled by High King Gerrax, the Undead King of Time. While his rule is not always pleasant, the world at least hasn't exploded again, lately ...
Many domains and god have vied for control of La Mondo since the first era.
In the first era, Jaill, Goddess of Thieves, took the lead, but could not hold it
At the time, Chaos was at the top with lesser domains nearly matching it. But soon Plant eclipsed all, if only for an age
In the third era, the Plant Domain rose to the top with Chaos again making its presence known
But by the fifth age, Earth Domain had risen higher than ever before and was again dominant, though Luck, Liberation and Plant were strong too
Various gods rose to the top from era to era, Sujira, Queen of Golems, eclipsing all others for a time in the fifth era
Luck Domain won out in the sixth age, but the seventh saw Plant on top again, if only a little above Earth
But by the seventh era, it was noble Adaissra leading the gods and Chedar behind her
Luck Domain was on the rise but from beneath them all surged Plant, to be the strongest of any power before
But goddess Jaill was biding her time and seized power in the ninth era. Chedar tried to work with her but was eventually struck down
Earth Domain built steadily until it matched Plat Domain's prior peak, leaving others far behind
But Earth fell even faster than it had risen, giving Luck some time at the top
This left Jaill unchallenged until the 12th era, when the Rat King and young Goion made a valiant effort to topple her, only to lose
Plant Domain was less aggressive in the 13th age, but still held dominance. Chaos tried to take it and nearly did in the 15th era.
Other gods tried to rise above Jaill for ages, lucky Shiion and then Alerus of the Forge. Alerus seemed to be winning but he hadn't prepared for the demons of Hetrezalel
But Good Domain won out in the 16th era, pushing Chaos back to the depths and pulling even mighty Plant down
Meanwhile, Earth quietly cemented its place in the hierarchy, from the 16th era all the way until present day, the 20th age.
Among gods, Jaill emerged victorious and dominated all in the 16th era, but she had overplayed her hand.
In the 17th era, a bevy of minor gods toppled Jaill but left a power vacuum
The domains of Liberation and Luck have ascended in the meantime, but Earth quietly holds its own
Dindrao, God of Dreams, and Aruel, God of Magic, rose to fill that vacuum left by Jaill, and Aruel looked to be the new king of the gods for a long time
At least it until Community arose this 20th age …
In the 20th era Aruel fell as a relatively unknown god arose, the mysterious Siraura, Goddess of Iron.
And even old Chedar seems to be flexing his muscles. Would he play kingmaker of the gods again, as in ages past?
